We are looking for either: - a supplementary daytime caregiver to initially work one or more days during the week, plus an option to assist with vacations and time off requests for the primary caregivers. We can be flexible on which days are worked. OR - a live-in caregiver providing daytime assistance. ABOUT DAD: Our Dad is a delightful 81-year-old man who needs a little extra assistance to be on his own. We, his family, are very involved in his life. We’re looking for some additional support to be part of his care team and help him stay as independent as possible. He’s a social guy and he really doesn’t like to be alone. He is witty, loves to laugh and joke, and has a sarcastic sense of humour. He enjoys going to his walking club, and he grudgingly attends his weekly Pilates classes. He appreciates being busy but often needs a nap to recapture his energy. He will gladly womp you playing crib as long as you help him count his hand when the numbers escape him. Dad is showing some early signs of dementia so has memory challenges and trouble with problem solving. He doesn’t need any help with bathing or personal care. He lives in his own home in North Langley that’s within walking distance of the Carvolth Bus Loop. He doesn’t drive but has a car and he’ll need you to take him to appointments and events. Dad currently has live-in companions who handle breakfast, keep him company in the evening, and manage household cleaning. There is also a daytime caregiver with him 9am-5pm Monday to Friday who makes lunch and supper. ABOUT YOU: You must have experience with dementia care and understand that needs will change across time and even throughout the day. You must have a valid, clean driver’s license, and a driver’s record will be required before you are hired. You must also provide proof of vaccination. You are energetic and upbeat, and will need to be okay with Dad’s sense of humour – he can be a little rough around the edges, but he means no harm and he really does love to kid around. You will assist with and support him in basic daytime living, and we’d appreciate you encouraging him to be more active as suits his capabilities. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: You could choose to live off site and work days, or live on site and share a large residence on a 2.5acre property just minutes walking distance from the Carvolth bus exchange in North Langley. ** Please reply with your resume and days you are available to work. ** Thank you in advance for your interest. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted
