Hello. I need to find a carer for my father. He has Parkinson’s and kidney cancer and lives alone so needs help. I really want to find someone trustworthy and reliable and who is caring and can take good care of him. He is due to have a big operation soon and will need possibly more time and maybe some overnight assistance as well initially but then I hope it could go down to twice a day as stated. It would be great if someone is a bit flexible to work around his operation and work with me on scheduling that could be best to support him at that time and beyond. He doesn’t currently need overnight assistance but I can’t say that might not be needed in future so would love to hire someone who can be a bit flexible and open as well as things might change. It would be great to have someone who can walk with him, take him to appts, run errands, ensure he takes his meds etc.

Caregiver

Toronto • 9 km away
I am a private individual seeking an experienced, caring, and patient caregiver for a part-time position. The preferred candidate will ideally have experience working with persons with disabilities and familiarity with managing conditions such as malnutrition and decubitus ulcers. This is a live-out position requiring a commitment of less than 20 hours per week. The work schedule necessary will cover mornings from Monday through Sunday. Preference will be given to someone who can start immediately. Tasks within this role span from personal health and grooming tasks to household chores. Job responsibilities will include ambulation assistance, bathing and toileting assistance, patient positioning and bed bath, along with dressing and grooming support. Range of motion exercise is also an important part of the job. Beyond personal health assistance, this role also includes some light housekeeping duties. The caregiver will be responsible for grocery shopping, meal planning and preparation, and running errands as required. Cleaning tasks including laundry, vacuum cleaning, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean bathroom will fall under the purview of this role as well. Furthermore, this role involves accompanying the person in your care to appointments, so a driving license is not mandatory but can be an added advantage. However, usage of a personal vehicle for automobile transportation will not be required in this role. If you are kind, empathetic, and committed to making a difference in a person's daily life and well-being, this job could be the perfect fit for you.

I am posting this in hopes of finding a good match for my grandmother who has old age Dementia. She is 90 years old and VERY able bodied and active. She is very social and kind although has a bit of an edge to her ! She is very funny and loves being active in the summer (going for walks, gardening, cleaning etc). We are an extremely close Greek family and looking for someone who would be a lovely addition to my grandmothers mental health and to help us with our care for her during times that we need. Really what she needs is a nanny/sitter. (she bathes herself, dresses herself- but doesn't really understand to cook anymore or prepare foods, which we do for her.) I will explain more details once we speak in messages/set up an interview.
