She is a kind, gentle person with 10 grandchildren and we live near Perth, Ontario, in a very nice home on a beautiful lake. She needs support with bathing and dressing and companionship. I am in need of a full-time caregiver for an elderly person, with a preferred start date of January 13, 2025. This live-out position requires a dedicated and compassionate individual who can provide comprehensive care and assistance in day-to-day activities. A typical work schedule will include mornings and midday assistance from Monday to Friday with the total working hours at 30 hours per week. The job responsibilities are varied and extensive. They will primarily involve assistance with daily personal tasks such as toileting, bathing including bed baths, and assisting with walking. Dressing and grooming care will also be a significant portion of the caregiver's duties. The caregiver will also be responsible for more specialized care including catheter care. Additionally, the responsibilities extend to meal planning and preparation as well as housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and comfortable living environment. Preferably, the caregiver should be familiar with conditions such as osteoporosis, arthritis and incontinence and be comfortable assisting an individual who has had a hip fracture. The role involves part-time commitment from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday typically during the middle of the day, amounting to a duration of at least 16 hours per week with the possibility of being increased. The main duties will encompass engaging in playing cards and meaningful conversations, facilitating a few chair exercises, preparing lunch, as well as handling light housekeeping tasks. My father experiences severe short-term memory loss and my mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia. The position requires someone with experience in these areas who is patient, caring, and honest. In terms of schedule, the prospective caregiver would be needed Monday through Friday. You would arrive Monday morning and leave Friday after dinner. The expected working hours per week will range between 40 to 50. Job responsibilities include an array of comprehensive care tasks - from simple assistance with medication dispensary, walking, dressing, grooming, and toileting, through to meal planning and preparation, laundry tasks, grocery shopping, and running errands. The ability to assist with bathing is also required. In addition, the role involves supervisory tasks pertaining to the household. Additionally, experience working with ailments such as incontinence, visual and hearing impairment, and arthritis would be strongly advantageous. The family car will be made available for use during work hours if accompanied by a client, and so a valid driver's license is a requirement. This job is set to start on the 4th of February 2025.
