# Live-In Caregiver – Elderly Couple
We are seeking **two compassionate, reliable, and experienced live-in caregivers** to assist an elderly couple in their home. The goal is to provide respectful personal care and household support while helping both individuals maintain as much independence, comfort, and dignity as possible.
The caregivers will share responsibilities and work together when two-person assistance is required.
## Care Needs
### Parent 1 – Post-Stroke Care
Parent 1 has suffered a stroke and has significant mobility limitations. They are currently unable to walk and require substantial assistance with personal care and mobility.
Responsibilities include:
* Assisting with transfers between bed, wheelchair, toilet, and other seating. **Transfers currently require two-person assistance.**
* Assisting with toileting and personal hygiene.
* Changing adult briefs/diapers as required.
* Helping with dressing and undressing.
* Assisting with positioning and general mobility within the home.
* Helping ensure comfort, cleanliness, dignity, and safety throughout the day.
* Providing assistance with bathing/personal care as required.
* Preparing and serving meals as needed. Parent eats independently once meals are provided.
* Observing and communicating any changes in mobility, comfort, skin condition, appetite, or general well-being to the family.
### Parent 2 – Parkinson's
Parent 2 has Parkinson's disease but is currently largely independent.
At present, Parent 2:
* Walks and moves independently.
* Eats independently.
* Requires minimal personal-care assistance.
The caregiver would provide general supervision and support as needed, with the understanding that care needs may gradually change over time.
## Household & General Responsibilities
In addition to personal care, caregivers will help maintain a comfortable and safe home environment. Responsibilities may include:
* Meal preparation for the elderly couple.
* Light housekeeping and tidying of their living areas.
* Laundry and changing bed linens.
* Keeping bathrooms and personal-care areas clean and organized.
* Assisting with groceries and household supplies.
* Medication reminders, if required.
* Accompanying or assisting with medical appointments and outings when needed.
* Providing companionship and social interaction.
* Communicating regularly with family members regarding care needs or concerns.
## Ideal Candidate
We are looking for caregivers who are:
* Kind, patient, respectful, and compassionate.
* Comfortable providing intimate personal care, including toileting and adult brief/diaper changes.
* Physically capable of assisting a person with significant mobility limitations.
* Experienced with elderly care, mobility assistance, stroke recovery, Parkinson's disease, or similar conditions.
* Comfortable working cooperatively with another caregiver for two-person transfers and other care needs.
* Dependable, responsible, and attentive to safety.
* Respectful of the privacy, dignity, culture, and routines of the individuals receiving care.
* Able to communicate clearly with the family.
Previous experience as a **personal support worker (PSW), health-care aide, home support worker, nurse, nursing assistant, or elderly caregiver** would be an asset.
Training in **safe transfers/body mechanics, CPR and First Aid** would also be preferred.
## Living Arrangement & Schedule
This is a **live-in position**, with private accommodation provided in the home.
We are looking to hire **two live-in caregivers** so that responsibilities can be shared and two caregivers are available for tasks that require two-person assistance.
Specific working hours, days off, overnight expectations, and division of responsibilities will be discussed and agreed upon before employment.
