As a senior gentleman living with cerebral palsy, I am seeking a compassionate and committed caregiver who can provide quad/paraplegic care. Due to a recent accident, I primarily need assistance with bathing and performance of range-of-motion exercises, as suggested by my doctor. This assistance is crucial for my recuperation and overall wellness.
This is a part-time position, requiring less than 20 hours per week. There is no requirement for a driving license as there is no need for a car during working hours. This position is non-residential and the work schedule is generally planned for mid-day on Fridays. However, these details can be discussed and adjusted accordingly.
Below are your main responsibilities:
1. Bathing Assistance: My residence is equipped with an easily accessible walk-in shower.
2. Dressing and Grooming Assistance: This involves helping me manage clothing and maintaining my personal hygiene.
3. Toileting Assistance: During these intimate moments, it is essential to respect my comfort and dignity.
4. Conducting Range of Motion Exercises: These should be carried out as per the prescribed physiotherapy protocol.
Though the preference is to start immediately, the start date can be negotiated based on the caregiver's availability. I truly believe in the importance of mutual trust and compatibility for a successful caregiver-patient relationship. For those considering this role, my heartfelt thanks extend to you. Your patience and assistance will enable me to live my life with greater dignity, purpose, and joy.
The title for this position is "Paraplegic Bathing Assistance". As a senior, I require assistance with bathing and range of motion exercises for about 2 hours every 2 weeks. I am looking forward to employing a live-out caregiver who can provide this support part-time. This role does not require the use of a car. Please note, this position requires less than 20 hours of work per week. Your willingness to work with, or your experience in quad/paraplegic care, would be invaluable.
