We are in search of a thoughtful, caring and compassionate caregiver for our mother, who is a senior citizen. This is a full-time live-out position with an expected work schedule of Monday to Friday, between 9AM-5PM or 7PM-11PM. There may be occasions when additional assistance is required during the mornings and afternoons on weekends. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, and bathing. Offering companionship and engaging in conversation. Assist with household tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and vacuuming. You will also assist with meal planning, preparation, and cooking, and should be adept at cooking a variety of meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You will plan and engage in activities during the day such as painting, colouring, playing cards, baking, and going for walks. Furthermore, the role involves accompanying our mother to medical appointments, planning visits, outings, and trips to visit the local community of neighbours, friends, and family. While a driver's license is not an absolute necessity, being able to make use of your own car in these instances would be helpful. The ideal individual should possess a solid understanding of eldercare, as well as possess notable experience providing care for the elderly. Communication in fluent English and legal eligibility to work within Canada are also necessary. This role will begin in March 2026, and the location is near 142 Street NW and Stony Plain Road. Currently looking to add private caretaker in a rotation to help care for 87 year old mother with dementia and my 90 year old father who recently spent 6 months in hospital having 2 spinal surgeries and is learning to walk again. We have an excellent day time morning and early afternoon private caretaker for the weekdays who will help schedule, train and manage additional caretaker(s) for evening and overnight care. Mother needs minimal help but guidance to not over-eat late night (she forgets she's eaten) and has some sun-downing symptoms but generally knows who and where she is but gets confused about times and dates. Until my father's recent surgeries he was more actively caring for her but now he needs to focus on regaining his balance and walking/physio and healing. He has complicated urinary issues post surgery so needs help to get up and go to the washroom and can no longer care for my mother. Light house-keeping, bathroom cleaning and laundry and garbage emptying, supplies filled overnight so that the apartment is ready for daytime. Father is hard of hearing and both can get a bit confused at night but generally are working hard to stay together and find their next chapter in their new home at Chartwell at Griesbach. Because it’s a senior community there is good nurse support in emergencies. Ideally this weekend caretaker can also perform his morning bowel routine as well. Our caretaker can train for this. Need to be comfortable with helping both parents w toilet issues.
