I am seeking an experienced individual who possesses skills in caregiving and personal support work for a senior in my home. The ideal candidate for this Caregiver & Personal Care position will have extensive experience with mobility support, including safe transfers and assisting patients with movements. The person in this role will need to be compassionate, patient, trustworthy and possess excellent communication skills. These attributes are essential as you will constantly be making decisions about the care you provide while also handling personal boundaries and maintaining utmost respect for privacy and confidentiality. Duties and responsibilities for this position will include assistance with personal care tasks such as transfers, bathing, dressing, and grooming. If necessary, the caregiver will provide mobility support such as wheelchair assistance, positioning, light exercises and stretching. Additionally, the individual will be required to help with meal preparation and feeding when required. The role also involves light housekeeping duties including laundry, cleaning, and organizing. Providing companionship, assisting with medication, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment at all times are also integral to this position. The work schedule will require availability during morning, midday, evening, and night hours on all seven days of the week. Please note that a driver's license is not a requirement for this position, and automobile use is not applicable. Both live-in and live-out arrangements will be considered, and the position can be either full time or part time. Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, meal planning and preparation, running errands, bathroom cleaning, assisting with walking, vacuuming, washing dishes by hand, escorting to appointments, bathing assistance, completing lifts and transfers, patient positioning, catheter or colostomy care, and range of motion exercises. Experience with or willingness to work with individuals suffering from osteoporosis, paralysis and quad/paraplegic care is an added advantage. We are looking at a work commitment of 30 to 40 hours per week, with the preferred start date being immediate. This is a highly demanding but rewarding role for someone fulfilled by providing one-on-one personal support. In addition to these, a significant aspect of this role involves massaging, particularly lymphatic drainage, which I believe would serve as a therapeutic complement to my daily routine. Familiarity or interest in meditation would also be greatly valued as it is a key part of the holistic care I am striving towards. The ideal candidate would be able to provide these services on an agreed-upon schedule of Monday through Friday, predominately during morning to midday hours. This opportunity would entail approximately 20-30 hours of work per week and is a live-out position, meaning the applicant won't need to worry about any living arrangements. Please note, although no automobile usage or driver's license is required for this role, there may be occasions where one may need to work or have experience with various senior-related conditions like cancer, arthritis, fractured hip, and chemotherapy/radiation treatment. Hence, any previous experience in these areas would be a significant asset, yet not mandatory. My mom is receiving rehab on her fractured hip and also has a back problem and needs someone there to assist with her daily routine to ensure she maintains a good quality of life. This role is a part-time to full time position, requiring less than 20-40hours a week. The ideal candidate should have a driver's license and be able to use their own car if needed for any potential outings or emergency situations. This position may require you to live-in, but you will need to be consistent with your scheduled time. Your responsibilities will include assisting my mother with her morning routine, which includes breathing exercises, taking her blood pressure and oxygen reading, and helping her to the bathroom. Attending to her ailments, back etc. She may occasionally need help with a massage for her back to alleviate her pain. Apart from this, your assigned tasks also include offering companionship. She enjoys conversation and could use a friendly face in the mornings. Some house cleaning would also fall within your remit to ensure she's living in a comfortable and clean environment. Her home is spacious and offers two lower-level bedrooms, a modern bathroom and separate kitchen for live-in caregiver use. Mom's bathing and toileting continues to be fully independent and she fortunately does not suffer from any serious health challenges other than hearing impairment (though a new 2026 hearing aid has helped a lot !!) and higher blood pressure. She is of Indian origin and prefers Indian lunch and dinners, though she enjoys other cuisines as well. Mom's driver's licence was recently renewed and she can drive with one of us also present within a 5km radius of home, typically Loblaws, TD Bank, and Shoppers Drug Market. We reside next door, we support all her requirements and she visits her 3 grandchildren here. There is a house-cleaner that has been visiting Mom every Tuesday for the past 5 years and the home is immaculate. The position may be fulfilled by either one full-time live-in caregiver, or possibly two persons with one being either live-out or both live-in. Groceries/meals & room/board & wi-fi internet is included for the live-in caregiver.
