We are in need of a compassionate and experienced individual, holding PSW and/or nursing qualifications, for a part-time support role. This role primarily involves caring for a 79-year-old female, Anne, who is suffering from memory issues, depression, mobility difficulties and arthritis in her knees and hips. Anne still holds her mobility and can drive, yet she requires aid in cleaning, cooking, and meal preparation for the week. A driver's license is mandatory for this position. The position is live-out, requiring service for one day (Sunday) from 9am to 11pm. There's a possibility of one additional day (Wednesday) if the fitting for the job aligns with our criteria. This role will not only involve assisting Anne but also her 35-year-old son who lives with her and struggles with mental health and physical issues. Housekeeping and meal preparation will be a collective effort for both. They also have a small white shitzu-poodle that requires occasional assistance as well. Ensuring there is food, water and clean floor pads. Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to - Bathing Assistance, Dressing Grooming assistance, Toileting Assistance, Housekeeping, Laundry, Grocery Shopping, Meal Planning / Preparation, Errands, Clean Bathroom, Assist with Pet Care, Assist with Walking, Vacuuming, Hand Wash Dishes (we have a dishwasher), Escort to Appointments, Alzheimer/Dementia Care, Supervise Home. It is mandatory that the candidate is comfortable wearing PPE around the clients. Ideally, our candidate should have experience working with or be willing to work with those suffering from Dementia, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Malnutrition and Mental Health. The total working hours per week will be less than 20 hours/week. The job requires the use of your own car for errands and appointments. Please note this is not a live-in position. So, I need somebody to be my paid full-time caregiver! The job will be located at my basement suite in Langford with lake access. I am seeking a wonderful individual to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) every week. There is also ample opportunity for extra shifts and hours. This will pay shift $25/hour. If you ever need time off, this position is extremely flexible, and I’m often happy to work stuff out with a little communication. The only nonnegotiable is: you must be okay with cats. I have the friendliest feline and she loves people! You will be an enthusiastic, sociable, and willing individual who likes animals and has a driver’s license. I have my own accessible minivan that you must be able to drive. My job involves visiting various businesses, so I need you to escort me around. You also must be capable of lifting my fat ass (once again, 105). You also must be willing and excited to be a part of my team. Truly – this is an awesome role. For a day shift, you arrive to my apartment, and you will either accompany me to work, errands, social activities, or anything else; we may just watch TV. I shower every morning. During the day, there is cooking and minor cleaning. Since I am completely immobile, I require help with pretty much everything aside from operating my computer (dictation software). Whenever I don’t need anything, caregivers are welcome to do whatever they please; they just need to be nearby in case. If you ever perform night shift responsibilities, you will be allowed to sleep in my guest bedroom. You can go to bed whenever you wish. If you do, you just set an alarm for when I want to go to sleep. Once that happens, you lift me to my bed (I’m 105 pounds), put my BiPAP (super easy breathing machine) on and turn me on my side. From there, if I need to be turned over, I call out on a baby monitor. All in all, aside from turning me and putting me to bed, your only responsibilities are to be nearby in case I need to be moved. From time to time, you may accompany me to the bar, to social-events, or some other activity. Otherwise, I work and watch TV (reality or sports usually). All-in-all: I am a very needy boy (because wheelchair) with a quirky sense of humour. I consider myself an optimist, and I absolutely love to laugh. I will be your manager, so that means you need to be able to handle polite and respectful instruction. However, this is an intimate relationship where we spend many hours a week together.
