Our Dad is 90 and has progressing dementia, requiring progressively more home support. He needs reminding and support for personal hygiene. The position will be mainly meal planning and preparation, housekeeping and companionship duties like walks and outings with his non shedding standard poodle. My two sisters and I take care of most appointments. We are looking for someone who will take over managing his day to day home life. I envision this position evolving to a live in situation with accommodation and wages provided, as we would like to keep him at his home for as long as possible. For now, as we get to know one another, we would like to have someone ease into that role as a live out position. The job location is in Oak Bay near Anderson Hill park.

I am US citizen, 6ft 2in, 240 Lb (approx), 83 yrs old, Lucid, partially disabled (Lower Back), as of 9/23, able to drive. Empty Urine container, Rinse container and Hose TWICE with HOT Water. Add Deodrant Tablets to Empty container. On occaision, help recipient to Toilet for evacuation of bowels. DAILY help recipient to sink for oral hygiene. DAILY help recipient to bath for shower (in chair), shaving. Help with drying. DAILY help recipient to dress and get into wheelchair. On occaision perform miscellaneous cleaning, laundry, dishwahing chores as directed by Spouse.

My sister and I are looking for a support person for our lovely mother with Multiple Sclerosis. This has left her with restricted mobility. We would like to start someone out twice weekly, 2-4 hours per shift. Tasks would include; 1) grocery shopping and general errands 2) cooking/ meal prep and or meal pick up 3) light housekeeping, such as dishes and garbage/recycling take out 4) Willing to escort to occasional appointments as well would be a bonus. 5) Eventually, there is a potential opportunity for more cleaning as well. My husband and I are looking for someone to help with the care of his sister, who is a senior with mild to moderate dementia. We would like to find someone who could ease into the position slowly in order to determine if it’s a good fit, so initially it would be a once daily visit around 5 pm or thereabouts, with some chatting, checking if Jan has taken her meds (in a blister pack), and seeing to her kitty (food, water, litter box). Ideally, if it’s a good fit, it could include making and sharing a light meal for Jan as well as some basic cleaning and tidying and seeing to the garbage and recycling. It would also be great if you could do some shopping errands for her and possibly take her to appointments. This position would gradually expand into more hours per week as her dementia progresses. An older caregiver (50s and up) would suit Jan best, as she would relate to them more easily. We live in Langford. Are you ready to have the best job ever? My name is Jaxson, I have spinal muscular atrophy type II (SMA), and I super can’t move my arms or legs (wheelchair). So, I need somebody to be my paid full-time caregiver! The job will be located at my basement suite in Langford with lake access. I am seeking a wonderful individual to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) every week. There is also ample opportunity for extra shifts and hours. This will pay shift $25/hour. If you ever need time off, this position is extremely flexible, and I’m often happy to work stuff out with a little communication. The only nonnegotiable is: you must be okay with cats. I have the friendliest feline and she loves people! You will be an enthusiastic, sociable, and willing individual who likes animals and has a driver’s license. I have my own accessible minivan that you must be able to drive. My job involves visiting various businesses, so I need you to escort me around. You also must be capable of lifting my fat ass (once again, 105). You also must be willing and excited to be a part of my team. Truly – this is an awesome role. For a day shift, you arrive to my apartment, and you will either accompany me to work, errands, social activities, or anything else; we may just watch TV. I shower every morning. During the day, there is cooking and minor cleaning. Since I am completely immobile, I require help with pretty much everything aside from operating my computer (dictation software). Whenever I don’t need anything, caregivers are welcome to do whatever they please; they just need to be nearby in case. If you ever perform night shift responsibilities, you will be allowed to sleep in my guest bedroom. You can go to bed whenever you wish. If you do, you just set an alarm for when I want to go to sleep. Once that happens, you lift me to my bed (I’m 105 pounds), put my BiPAP (super easy breathing machine) on and turn me on my side. From there, if I need to be turned over, I call out on a baby monitor. All in all, aside from turning me and putting me to bed, your only responsibilities are to be nearby in case I need to be moved. From time to time, you may accompany me to the bar, to social-events, or some other activity. Otherwise, I work and watch TV (reality or sports usually). All-in-all: I am a very needy boy (because wheelchair) with a quirky sense of humour. I consider myself an optimist, and I absolutely love to laugh. I will be your manager, so that means you need to be able to handle polite and respectful instruction. However, this is an intimate relationship where we spend many hours a week together. I have become friends with many of my workers over the years. I am very open and honest. If you have any questions, whatsoever, I WANT YOU TO ASK!!!
