Are you a compassionate and caring elder care provider looking for a long-term, full-time, live-in primary caregiver position with competitive compensation in Victoria, BC? Our amazing 84 year old mother lost most of her vision in late 2023 (she has 8% peripheral vision in one eye). Up until that time, she managed to live on her own and do virtually everything for herself. She has had a full-time live-in caregiver since she lost her vision (her caregiver is planning on moving home up-island) and she loves that she's been able to stay in her home despite her loss of vision (3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home on a quarter-acre 5 minutes from UVic). My sister and I live in Canmore/Calgary and travel frequently to Victoria. The successful caregiver will be responsible for providing 'light elder care' duties including companionship, outdoor walks, managing the household, preparing meals, administering medication, and daily errands. The pay is competitive and room & board is included. We strive to be great, no-nonsense employers that will work with you to form an arrangement and schedule that works best for you and for our mother. In practice this typically means that the day runs from 7am (prepare breakfast) through 8pm (bedtime). You'll have your own bedroom and bathroom in a nice home in a fantastic, quiet neighbourhood. We've found that a 'primary' fulltime live-in caregiver supplemented by 'backup' full-time live-in caregivers works the best for everyone. In practice this means the Primary Caregiver works for ~ 2 weeks straight and then takes a few days off. During the Primary Caregiver's breaks we'll bring in other Backup Caregivers so that our mother has uninterrupted 24/7 care in her home. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a caring attitude, patience, and a willingness to learn. We're looking for you to start at the beginning of March and understand that live-in companions will need time to make arrangements. We'll provide paid training before you begin caregiving duties. If this role is a good fit for your aspirations and care background, please message Mark. We look forward to hearing from you.

I am seeking a committed and compassionate caregiver for an adult man living with cerebral palsy. This role offers a challenging yet fulfilling opportunity to make a real difference in the quality of life of an individual who deeply appreciates your expertise and care. This full-time role is live-out, although an occasional need for overnight stay may arise depending on circumstances. It is set to commence at the end of February and run until the end of April. Work will be required across all days of the week, including weekends, with agreed upon hours within the range of 20 to 30 hours per week. The position is based in my home and would involve supporting a range of tasks that include helping with mobility using a Hoyer lift, assisting with bathing, toileting, and other personal care duties. You will also be required to carry out range of motion exercises, light housekeeping, bathroom cleaning, meal planning and preparation, attending to pet care, as well as escorting to appointments as and when needed. Ideally, you will have proven experience in caregiving, particularly for individuals with cerebral palsy. You should be capable of providing physical assistance with patience, compassion, and a strong commitment to maintaining the dignity and comfort of the individual you are caring for. Familiarity with a Hoyer lift and range of motion exercises would be beneficial. While a driver's license is not a requirement, it certainly would be an added advantage. The individual you will be caring for values your service and cherishes the sense of independence and comfort your assistance provides. This role, therefore, offers more than just a job – it is about making a significant and transformative difference in someone's life. If you have the desired experience and are committed to providing exceptional care, I encourage you to apply. Please send your resume and any other relevant experience for my review and consideration.
