I’m Valentina from Colombia, currently living in Winnipeg. I studied law for four years, which helped me develop organization and problem-solving skills. I’ve been in Canada for about three years to improve my English, and now Canada is my new home. It makes me happy to be part of another family and to be helpful to them. I’m patient, kind, and attentive to children’s needs. I speak English and Spanish, enjoy outdoor activities, exploring kids’ hobbies, and helping them learn new things. Families describe me as caring, trustworthy, and easy to communicate with. I have almost 2 years of experience helping families care for children from 3 months to 9 years old. My main duties included feeding, diaper changes, playing and educational activities, helping with naps, outdoor walks, and keeping play areas tidy. I easily adapt to each family’s routines and follow parents’ instructions carefully to make sure children are always safe and happy. I have many years of childcare experience. As an older sister, my journey started with babysitting and from there it has grown to coaching, teaching and camp counselling. I am a student at the University Of Manitoba as. I manage one of UMEarths main projects, “project VEG” (visionary educational Gardens) I founded this program in my junior year of high school and since then have run it as a non-profit organization. VEG is focused on sustainable ways for youth to make a difference. In the past years, I’ve worked with over 1000 kindergarten to grade 4 students, teaching lessons, talking to student groups and donating garden boxes to schools in need across Winnipeg. As an Author of “The Circle of Climate Change” — a book that empowers a younger generation, I’ve also had the opportunity to work with hundreds of young minds. With these continuing experiences, I’ve developed many skills to bring a positive and caring outlook to any situation. I have also worked in a daycare setting where I had the opportunity to create connections with lots of preschool age kids.this experience really taught me how to care for young kids and attend to their needs while still giving them freedom to explore. I have many loves and interests that include cooking, baking, art, writing, spending time with family and swimming. I have been a high-performance Artistic swimmer for 10+ years and have travelled across Canada as a national soloist. Being an athlete in any sport has so many amazing benefits. Many years of sport has taught me so much about myself and my strength. I’ve had the opportunity to mentor many young athletes, this has given me much insight into the importance of working together and problemsolving. Being in this has also led me to become coach and camp counsellor as an Artistic swimming coach I’ve worked with many different age groups and levels. My goal is to create an environment where every child feels safe to learn, grow and have fun— while working with my younger athletes I often lead by example and have lots of different activities planned to focus on problem-solving and motor skills. While my older age group have more of a focus on learning skills, teamwork and physical literacy. Along with coaching, I’ve spent my summer working as a Recreational assistant. This job had me working with kids as young as six months. I panned and facilitated children’s events, ran childcare dropin games for all ages and worked in the community club, cleaning and providing child recreation services. I am here to support you and your family, I always bring a positive and outgoing personality. I will provide a welcoming and happy environment, I’m a great cook, meal planner, and always have a new game or book to share. When caring for children I love to plan a variety of activities from exploring the outdoors, reading, playing games or even learning a new skill. My experience ranges from infants to school ages children. I have experience cleaning and housekeeping. I am always ready to learn your house rules and be a positive role model in any child’s life. Whether your child needs help with school work, a bedtime story, someone to play with or just a hug, I’ll be there ready to help with anything. I would love to have the opportunity to work with you and your children! I'm Alexandra, a dedicated and compassionate childcare provider with a rich background in nurturing and educating children. My journey in childcare began as an older sister and evolved through roles in babysitting, coaching, teaching, camp counseling, and professional nannying. With years of hands-on experience, I bring a well-rounded, enthusiastic, and thoughtful approach to every family I work with. Educational Background & Community Engagement Currently, I am pursuing a degree in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Manitoba. My academic pursuits are complemented by my passion for community service. In high school, I founded "Project VEG" (Visionary Educational Gardens), a non-profit initiative aimed at teaching youth about sustainability and climate change. Through this program, I've engaged with over 500 students from kindergarten to grade 4, delivering lessons, leading student groups, and donating garden boxes to schools across Winnipeg. Additionally, I authored and illustrated The Circle of Climate Change: We Can Help!, a children's book designed to empower young readers to make a positive impact on our planet. These experiences have honed my skills in communication, leadership, and creativity, all of which I bring to my role as a nanny. Athletic Endeavors & Coaching Experience Beyond academics, I have a deep love for sports, particularly artistic swimming. Over the past decade, I've competed as a high-performance athlete, traveling across Canada as a national soloist. This experience has instilled in me the values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Transitioning from athlete to mentor, I've taken on roles as a coach and camp counselor. As an artistic swimming coach, I've worked with various age groups and skill levels, focusing on creating environments where children feel safe to learn, grow, and have fun. My coaching emphasizes problem-solving, motor skills development, teamwork, and physical literacy. Professional Childcare Experience In addition to coaching, I've served as a Recreational Assistant, working with children as young as six months. This role involved planning and facilitating children's events, managing drop-in games for all ages, and providing childcare services at community clubs. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to engage children in diverse activities, from outdoor exploration and reading to games and skill-building exercises. Services Offered I offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each family: Live-out Nannying: Available for part-time or occasionally positions (babysitting, driving to activities or meal preparation). I'm a 19 year old who just finished my first year of university. After a hard and overwhelming year enrolled in Pre-Pharmacy I've realized that chemistry and lab coats are not for me and my assets could be better used as an elementary school teacher. As I would be transferring programs there are a lot of requirements, such as experience working with children of the age I'd want to teach (kindergarten-grade 2/3). Of course if there are additional children outside that age range I will gladly take care of them too, just preferably at least one child in the early elementary grades. I have experience babysitting one of my neighbours in the past and, more recently, babysitting my niece and have no problem cooking, cleaning and other housework, running errands, changing diapers, helping with homework, helping with the pets, and having fun and playing with the kids. I have learned CPR through swimming lessons previously but I'm not certified, and I know basic first aid. I am willing to get more training if that is something you require as I am eager to gain childcare experience. Even though I've struggled a bit in university, in high school I graduated with honors with distinction so I could very helpful to your children with their schoolwork. I've lived on a grain and cattle farm my whole life that was 25 minutes away from my school so we couldn't hang out with our friends that often, so my brothers and I found lots of ways to entertain ourselves indoors and outdoors. I enjoy cooking and baking and trying new recipes. I started baking when I was around 8 years old and back then I mainly liked to bake cakes just to decorate them. Now I like to make more intricate desserts, like "specialty" cupcakes and I've tried macaroons a few times which I personally didn't think turned out good but I was told otherwise. I also enjoy painting and colouring, whether it's in a real colouring book or on my iPad. Of course I love playing and cuddling with my dog because he's actually the funniest dog I've ever met, he has a one of a kind personality. And my guilty pleasure when I have the time is playing Sims4 and when I can justify the purchase, a new Lego set, specifically a flower set. Overall, I'm a caring, responsible, and trustworthy teen girl, excited to help ease your workload and leave a lasting impression on your children. :) From 2018-2020 I babysat for my neighbours until they moved. When I started, I was taking care of a 2 year old girl. I would supervise and engage in play indoors and outdoors, follow daily routine with lunch, nap, and bedtime, cook meals and prepare snacks and clean up after, and tidy up house in downtime when the child was napping (my choice, wasn't included in responsibilities). When the weather was nice we would spend more time outside riding a bike, chasing the dog, playing soccer, and going on the play structure. There would be times that she would cry when I left because we were having so much fun and I would be tempted to stay because it warmed and hurt my heart that she was crying. My niece was born in 2022 and I babysit her whenever my brother asks and help take care of her while the family is socializing. Since she was born, I've helped with preparing the bottles and feeding, changing diapers which turned to cleaning her pee off the floor during pants-less potty training days, entertaining her, and putting her to bed. I make her snack plates when she plays because she will barely touch her meal, wanting to go play. Whenever she comes over, one of the first things she does is come to my room, always looking for something. Whether it's Lego, paints, markers, or the occasional chocolate, she knows how to find it. She is way crazier than the other girl I babysat and always keeps me on my toes but I love it because she already has such a funny personality and hearing her laugh just makes me melt. I graduated high school in June 2024 with honors with distinction and I would be more than happy to help the child with school work. I'm currently enrolled in Pre-Pharmacy at the University of Winnipeg but I'm hoping to transfer to the Faculty of Education to be an elementary school teacher. Since I'm transferring, there are a lot of requirements so I'm taking this next year to get my GPA up and gain more experience working with kids to hopefully ensure my acceptance.
