Hi! My name is Lea! I am 26 years old, originally from the Philippines and currently living here in Langley Township. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in secondary education but I have teaching experience in handling preschool students as well as students with special needs. I also have experience in teaching English to Korean grade-schoolers and Italian professionals. During my service as a preschool teacher, I didn't have any classroom assistant to assist me with the kids' needs so I am solely responsible in changing their clothes, feeding them, assisting in their needs, on top of preparing the lessons for class. I have a degree in secondary education - major in English in college but I have experiences in teaching English to Korean gradeschool students and Italian professionals. I also have experience working in a known university in the Philippines as well as in an inclusive international school where I handled preschool students with special needs.

I am an international student in Canada and currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in Computing Science with a maths minor at Trinity Western University, Langley. I come from an Asian family background. I have always been a self-learner which is the reason why find myself to be a good tutor for other people. Everyone has their own methods and pace of learning to catch up on different subject matters which I totally understand and I am willing to work with all kinds of students. Whether a student learns best through visualizing a problem, hands-on activity, or problem-solving exercises, I adapt my lessons according to their preferences fostering an engaging environment where they feel encouraged to ask questions and explore new topics. I totally understand the feeling of a student not feeling comfortable asking questions in classes to their teachers because I was one of them. I hope I can help these kinds of students because it does hold back a lot of their potential to excel in different subjects. I am a very open-minded individual and I get along with people very well. Additionally, I also have a strong background in communications and interpersonal skills working different part-time jobs back home. I also have a passion for music and application design. I love working on different projects to create engaging and intuitive applications for users. The front end of applications has always been my interest which is why I am pursuing my bachelor's in computing science. This degree involves the use of mathematics calculations equally which is why I am minoring in maths. I am from a south-Asian country, Nepal and I have been giving private tutoring for two years. I started out as a peer tutor in my high school for my major subjects maths and computing science. I loved my part-time job as a tutor because not only did the students learn but also I got to learn new things. I have experience in tutoring students from grades 4 to 10 in basic and advanced mathematics.

I am currently finishing my third year as an education student in the elementary curriculum at TWU, and will be entering 4th this upcoming fall- I am working on 2 minors in English and Psychology (Special Ed). I would like to gain more experience working in this field, so that I can further my knowledge in how to help children with special needs in a future classroom. I have worked with children before, ranging from neurotypical to one neurodivergent kid (on the spectrum). My experience includes assisting my mom in her family daycare for 7+ years (2010-2017), and volunteering with kids in summer camps (2010-2017) as well. In my program, I have had the opportunity to assist teachers in classroom placements in my third year, as well as many future classroom placements for 4th year and so on. I am excited to use my knowledge and skills I've learned in previous years and be able to apply it in future opportunities! I am a 3rd year university student in the education program (elementary curriculum) and specialize in psych (special ed) and English. I have only tutored kids in grade 4 and 7 for a summer in English, and would like to try either tutoring again, or working with kids.
