My name is Obiageli, but the kids call me Ms. Geli. I am 46 years old and passionate about helping children and families thrive. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Nigeria and graduated from Fanshawe College (Toronto Campus) with Dean's Honour Roll recognition in Addictions and Mental Health. I currently work as a Special Needs Teacher Assistant with the Peel District School Board and am available to support families during the summer months of July and August 2026.
I am a friendly, caring, and hardworking person who enjoys working with children and creating a safe, comfortable, and positive environment. I come from a large, family-oriented background and value honesty, respect, and reliability. As the youngest of eleven children, I grew up helping to care for many of my nieces and nephews, which gave me a natural love for supporting children and families. Today, many of them are adults, but those experiences helped shape the person I am.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, listening to music, taking walks, spending time with family and friends, and helping others whenever I can. Families often appreciate my patience, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail. I am dependable, easy to get along with, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure children and families feel supported and cared for.
I love working with children and helping families, but I am not particularly comfortable around pets. Therefore, I am ideally looking for positions in pet-free homes where I can focus my energy and attention on supporting children and household needs.
In addition to my current role, I previously founded and operated Kanelo Speech Special Needs Centre, where I supported children with diverse learning and developmental needs.
From Nigeria to Canada, I have worked tremendously well with families & kids on the Autism spectrum plus related difficulties like Down Syndrome, learning and intellectual difficulties. I am an instructor for people with special needs. I worked beautifully with neuro-typical kids - all within the age of 3 to 11years old. I worked in Nigeria at employer's homes, schools, clinics and Autism Centres. Here in Canada, I engaged and supported students from Kinder to grade 8 as an Educational Assistant for special needs with the school Board and also interacted with Children at two Autism Centres here in Mississauga. I love how I help these wonderful little ones become awesome everyday by day, and with an extensive experience in care and academic support, you will find me to be compassionate, playful, passionate, patient and attentive. To put it in a simple term, I nurture children/youth with or without diverse needs and abilities in order for them to excel in total quality of life through dignity and kindness.
