I’m a dedicated and driven student with a strong background in leadership, communication, and academic excellence. In high school, I served as President of the Debate Club for three years and Secretary-General of Model UN for two, where I developed skills in public speaking, critical thinking, and team coordination. I consistently achieved Honour Roll status and was recognized as an Ontario Scholar for academic achievement. Outside the classroom, I’ve tutored five students between the ages of 5 and 14 in English, French, Math, and Science—an experience that strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles. As the eldest of three siblings, I’ve naturally taken on a mentorship role at home, which has shaped my patience, empathy, and leadership. I’m passionate about education, law, and community-building, and I enjoy engaging in activities that challenge me intellectually and socially. My interests include debate, global affairs, and volunteering. I bring a collaborative spirit, strong organizational skills, and a genuine desire to help others succeed—qualities I hope to carry into future roles and eventually into law school. I have been tutoring for four years with the East York Tutoring Academy, I have worked in person and online helping kids ages 5-14 in English, French, math, and science.

I was born and raised here in Ottawa and have lived here all my life. I have been married for the past thirty-five years and have a twenty-eight year old daughter. Music and computers are my main interests along with a smattering of things like photography and chess. As a high school student back in the 1960's, I was fortunate enough to have had a great math teacher in Mrs. Eleanor Todd. She knew her stuff and was able to express it very effectively. I found my enthusiasm for mathematics to be heightened very much and that led quite naturally into similar rigourous areas like computer science. Being inspired by Mrs. Todd was my jumping off point into a long-lasting, challenging career that I enjoyed very much. So being able to inspire a student, in turn, by tutoring shall be a very rewarding. My last full-time employment was with Environment Canada's Meteorological Service of Canada, specifically the Water Survey of Canada. I found that to be very intriguing as it involved lots of database queries and using mathematics to produce hydrographs. These are used to support Canada's position with regard to negotiating river flow redirection with the United States in the event of drought in either country. The combination of both applied math and computer science was ideal for carrying out this type of work. I've also worked in several high-tech companies as well as the Canadian Space Agency. I've been playing electric bass for over fifty years in various bands in the Ottawa area and feel quite familiar with several types of music, including country, blues, rock and some jazz.

I am a third-year Mechanical Engineering student at Carleton University with a strong passion for problem-solving, teamwork, and continuous learning. I completed high school at Columbia International College, where I also worked part-time as a tutor, supporting fellow students academically. At Carleton, I have served as a Teaching Assistant, helping peers succeed in courses I have previously completed, which has further developed my communication and leadership skills. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing soccer, engaging with children, and spending time gaming, which helps me stay sharp and think creatively under pressure. I am also interested in technology, innovation, and hands-on design projects that allow me to apply engineering principles in practical, meaningful ways. Known for being patient, reliable, and easy to work with, I value teamwork and take pride in helping others succeed. I am eager to gain more experience, contribute to a collaborative environment, and take on challenges that allow me to grow both personally and professionally. I attended Columbia International College for high school, during which time I worked as a part-time tutor to assist fellow students with their academic progress. I am currently in my third year at Carleton University, where I have served as a teaching assistant, supporting students in courses I have previously completed. While my experience is still developing, I believe I possess the foundational qualifications and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed academically.

Gloucester, ON ʉۢ 5 km away
I'm Kadeji, a passionate and seasoned education professional, based in Gloucester. For the past five years, I've devoted my life to tutoring children of all ages, from pre-schoolers to adults. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a family of educators, who instilled in me the art of engaging with my learners in a fun and interactive environment. My teaching journey started as a volunteer in an after-school tutoring program, and since then, I've expanded my reach by offering tutoring services to my neighbors and through online platforms. My core skill sets include preparing students for exams, guiding primary school students, and applying the Montessori method in my teaching process. Over the years, I've devised tailored schedules and curriculums to aid my learners' growth and helped them improve their grades. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Teacher Education, solidifying my theoretical foundation in classroom management and student engagement. As a tutor, I specialize primarily in Mathematics. Having been raised by a math teacher, I've nurtured a deep fondness for the subject, and I constantly aim to share this same passion with my learners. In addition, I'm proficient in teaching Advanced Mathematics, English, Literature, and Biology. I'm articulate in both English and Arabic. Outside tutoring, I have a bloom of different hobbies. I enjoy writing short stories, painting, embroidery, and skating. My tutoring services are flexible; I can provide tutoring at my home, the learner's home, and even online. As for my schedule, I'm available throughout the week, predominantly in the evenings and at night. On Fridays, I can accommodate morning sessions, and on Saturdays, I'm available all day. If you’re looking for a caring, patient, and experienced tutor who will always go the extra mile to support your child's educational journey, you've come to the right place! I'm ready to start immediately, and I look forward to partnering with you in enhancing your child's love for learning. I grew up in a large family of educators who taught me how to teach my younger relatives, how to interact with them and how to provide them with a fun environment that wouldn't make them hate or dislike what they were learning. I first started working with an after-school tutoring program as a volunteer, and I fell in love with helping children thrive. I continued helping my family members and started working with my neighbors children. I set up schedules and curriculums and helped them grow and improve their grades overtime. I decided to spread out more, so I started teaching Online as well and have had many students of all ages from different backgrounds.

I'm Jake! I am passionate about educating others and watching them succeed in their scholarly pursuits! I'm completing my Master's at Carleton University and am looking to expand my teaching experience before I pursue a PhD. Program. My experiences as a student, tutor, mentor, and research assistant have given me a wide range of specialized knowledge and hands-on experience. These opportunities have placed me in a strong position to help students with any subject related to the arts and humanities. As for my interests, I have been a long-time fan of board games, TV shows, and comics, which I have successfully transitioned into my academic research and as part of my current thesis. You may have even seen me presenting on a panel about media literacy with my lab fellows at Ottawa Comiccon! Please do not hesitate to reach out with additional questions! I am prepared to meet the needs of any student and align those needs with the goals of their parental figures. I've worked for five years at Carleton University as an Academic Coach and Mentor and an additional two years as a teaching assisant. My work as an academic coach and mentor has provided me with experience working one on one and in small groups with new students seeking additional support as they entered post secondary education. Many of these students required additional care and consideration in comparison to the regular student body. Because of these additional needs I have ammassed a large amount of experience working with students who require alternative strategies for sucess, or who require a patient figure to help them understand difficult topics one on one. My experience has also provided me specialized training which has enhanced my ability to work with students and provide productive feedback on their progress. I have completed an undergraduate degree with honours at Carleton University. I am currently working towards completing my Master's at Carelton by the end of this summer term as I complete my thesis research project.

My parents are from Sri Lanka but I was born in Lavale, Quebec and then moved to Scarborough when I was 7. I've been in Ottawa for the past few years for university but my family still resides in Scarborough. Along with my parents, I have one younger brother who is 20. My cousins have lived in front of our house since we moved to Scarborough so we grew up alongside them since childhood. My hobbies growing up were doing hurdles for track and field, painting landscapes and collecting vinyl records. I've always been passionate about my hobbies and interests in school, primarily healthcare. I'm hoping to finish this degree and apply for medical school shortly. I'm currently in my fourth year pursuing Health Sciences at Carleton University. I've been tutoring my younger cousins with their school homework for as long as I can remember. I've always been interested in healthcare, which in turn has evolved my passions surrounding tutoring. In addition to academic tutoring, I enjoy painting in my leisure and I teach privately on occasion.
