I am a health care provider/caregiver and have been for over 8 years. I have completed a college diploma in TV/video production as well as liberal arts. And I am currently completing PSW certification and finished one semester on the deans list.
It may be interesting to know that I am diagnosed with ADD, so I have extensive personal experience with the challenges and frustrations of a learning disability. I have since learned and executed multiple systems based on a solid understanding of ADD and the impact of learning disabilities. This I believe has allowed me to be particularly effective in tutoring. Along with a devoted care and concern for all my clients, my goal is to “meet the student where they are at” both with the material as well as their learning style, and personal/unique roadblocks that is stopping them from success. I address the content head on, studying it extensively in advance and how the home teacher is teaching it, and then apply that to the student, identifying all of these key elements to their learning and addressing them accordingly. I was met with much success early on with this method and it has encouraged me to continue tutoring others. I believe that as long as the student feels heard and cared for and these needs are addressed, amazing things can happen.
I have had two tutoring clients thus far and both were very successful. One client was struggling with learning and management of study habits in what was a very advanced grade 8 program. He had several tutors prior but marks did not improve. After one year together he ascended to being one of the top of his class. I had one other client in high school who needed assistance in advanced English.
