I attended many different schools in different countries growing up due to my father's research in biomedicine, though I am most familiar with the Calgary Board of Education, having spent most of my childhood here. I graduated from Winston Churchill High School in Calgary as an honours student with excellent grades. I am now a student at the University of Calgary in psychology, hoping to become a child psychologist once I complete my master's. I thoroughly enjoy helping friends and kids I babysit with schoolwork and I find ease in helping them gain a firm understanding of the content. English and Dutch are my first languages, and I lived in France for a while and attended French immersion in Calgary, so I am proficient in French as well. I also consider myself to be an artist, as I spend most of my free time painting, doing digital art, embroidery, sculpting, journaling, scrapbooking, calligraphy, and so on, and I thoroughly enjoy doing arts and crafts with kids. Unfortunately, with a tighter schedule as a university student, I don't have the time to pursue my art as a career at the time being, which is one of the many reasons I'm looking for babysitting and tutoring opportunities.
I have experience volunteering at a special needs classroom at my former high school where I worked with students with autism, different types of down syndrome, and paraplegia. I strive to be an advocate for kids with special needs and hope to work with them more as I pursue a job in child psychology.
I have not had a consistent tutoring job but I have lots of experience working with young kids and teens while babysitting. I have taken an online course on tutoring as well.
