My name is Jerome, a proud 38-year-old Filipino with a wonderful family, currently based in Vancouver. I have always been dedicated to helping others, which has naturally led me to a fulfilling career as a Personal Support Worker and Caregiver/Companion. With extensive experience in caregiving, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals with various health conditions, providing compassionate and professional care tailored to their specific needs.
As the father of a six-year-old boy who has overcome Myasthenia Gravis, and having supported my wife through anxiety disorders, I understand the importance of patience, empathy, and adaptability in caregiving. This personal experience has further fueled my desire to provide exceptional care to others. Additionally, my background includes caring for my late grandmother, who suffered from dementia, as well as assisting my father-in-law with lifetime dialysis treatment, and providing daily support for my senior parents. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and insights to offer thoughtful and attentive care, whether for children with disabilities, seniors, or individuals with complex medical needs.
My availability is flexible, and I am fully available from Monday to Sunday—mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I can also accommodate immediate availability and am open to both Live-In and Live-Out arrangements. My skill set includes a wide range of personal care duties such as bathing assistance, bed baths, lifts and transfers, toileting assistance, and overseeing social activities like planning visits and escorting to appointments. I am also comfortable supervising home affairs and ensuring the comfort and safety of those under my care.
In addition to my hands-on experience, I hold a Bachelor's degree and have a strong desire to work in Retirement Homes, Clinics/Hospitals, or Home Health Care settings. I am passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of the individuals I care for and am always willing to go the extra mile to ensure their happiness, comfort, and well-being.
I am excited about the opportunity to serve as your Personal Support Worker or Caregiver/Companion and would be honored to provide secure, compassionate, and professional care to your loved ones. I look forward to discussing how my background and experience can be of service to you and your family.
I have extensive experience in caregiving, including working as a live-in caregiver for an individual with dementia in Port Moody.
As a father to a six-year-old son who has overcome the challenges of Myasthenia Gravis, I have developed a deep and personal understanding of the needs of individuals requiring specialized care. Since his diagnosis at the age of two in 2019, I have been actively involved in managing his medical needs—coordinating appointments, administering medications, and providing consistent emotional and physical support. This journey has taught me the value of patience, resilience, and unwavering commitment.
Beyond my son’s care, I have supported my wife in managing anxiety disorders since our child's birth. This has further strengthened my empathy, emotional awareness, and attentiveness—qualities essential to any caregiving role.
My caregiving experience also includes caring for my late grandmother, who suffered from dementia and became bedridden at 89. That experience deepened my appreciation for the importance of compassionate, respectful, and detail-oriented elder care. Additionally, I have been assisting my father-in-law through over three years of lifetime dialysis treatment—helping him attend medical appointments, managing his medications, and providing daily support. I also serve as the primary caregiver for my senior parents, supporting them with healthcare needs and everyday living tasks.
Having grown up in a family that deeply values caring for elderly loved ones, I bring a mindset rooted in love, respect, and dignity to every caregiving role. I treat those under my care as I would my own family—with compassion, responsibility, and attentiveness.
I currently hold an Open Work Permit and reside in Vancouver with my sibling. I would be grateful for the opportunity to further discuss how my personal experiences, caregiving skills, and strong desire to learn can align with the needs of your family. I am eager to train, grow professionally, and provide the high-quality support and care your loved ones deserve.
