My name is Solomiia, and I've been working as a babysitter, and a tutor for the past 4 years, and if needed, all references can be provided. I can tutor mathematics, languages, and science courses to senior students, and do homework, extra explanations for middle/primary schoolers. ALL REFERENCES CAN BE PROVIDED.
For context, I am from Ukraine and in Apr 2024, my family moved to Canada to prevent my fourteen-year-old brother from being drafted. Both of my parents have severe health issues (asthma and vision impairment), and I am in serious need to support them, because they can not work fully. All of us received work permits when we entered the country. In Toronto, since Sept 2024, I've been working as a private math tutor and a babysitter in my local neighborhood.
Back in April 2024, I arrived halfway through the semester of Grade 11, and it was a big shift from my previous Ukrainian school. I adapted very quickly and finished the year with an outstanding 97%:
• English - 95 (NBE3U1)
• Accounting - 98 (BAF3M1)
• Functions - 99 (MCR3U1)
• Leadership - 98 (PLF4M1)
• Chemistry - 96 (SCH3UE)
• Biology - 95 (SBI3UE)
I know what it means to work hard, and as long as the student is willing to work hard with me, we can achieve amazing results together. Now, I'm finishing Grade 12 with a 98% average:
• English - 95 (ENG4U1)
• Advanced Functions - 99 (MHF4U1)
• Chemistry - 99 (SCH4U1)
• Change in Society - 98 (HSB4U1)
• Calculus and Vectors - 99 (MCV4U1)
• Data Management - 99 (MDM4U1)
• History - 96 (CHY4U1)
This year, I have also been accepted to the University of Toronto with a 225, 000$ scholarship, and I plan to major in Finance with a minor in Linguistics.
----- From March 2024 to June 2024, I worked as a babysitter for a family with two children in Downtown Toronto (a 4-year-old girl and a 1, 5-year-old boy). They lived 15 minutes away from me, and I came to them every morning at 7:30am before school. I changed diapers, fed children, dressed them, and got them ready to go to kindergarten. I came to the family after school at 3:15pm. I prepared dinner, cleaned up the space, met up the children from the kindergarten, undressed them, did any homework with them, and went for a walk, played interactive games. My shift ended at 7pm after the parents finished their work.
------ From September 2024 till May 2025 - during my Gr 12 school year, my math teacher recommended me to her family friend, and I worked as an on-home tutor for that family, tutoring Gr 11 Math (MCR3U1) to their son. Later, I also found new tutoring opportunities:
• worked as an after-school tutor, tutoring Gr 12 Math to a classmate
• weekly did tutoring sessions for an IEP student, tutoring Gr 11 Math at Fort York Library
• weekly tutored Gr 12 College Level Math to a girl who scored the highest score after our tutoring sessions in all of her math courses during high school! (She got an 87, majorly helping her with university applications
• weekly tutoring Gr 11 Math (MCR3U1) for another IEP student at Sanderson Library
---- From May 2025 until June 30th, I worked as a part-time nanny for a French family in the Withrow Park area. Every weekday after school, I came from 4:30 pm to 7 pm (about 2.5 hours) to help with their two children—a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. My responsibilities included picking them up from different schools, walking them to extracurricular activities, and helping with Kumon homework. Sometimes I also cooked dinner when the parents were busy with work. I worked with this family for only two months since they were moving back to France after living in Canada for the past two years. Because the parents were caught up with packing and could only be free after 7 pm, I helped with the children in the meantime. I felt beyond grateful for the chance to work with this family—they were super kind, welcoming, and had the sweetest (and sometimes naughty!) kids that I grew to like a lot (Nina and Stan) :)
---- From July to August 2025, I worked as a housekeeper for a private family, supporting them with daily household tasks. My responsibilities included keeping the home clean, organized, and fully restocked, as well as occasionally preparing meals. The family valued the comfort of a well-kept home and home-cooked food over eating out, and I helped ensure that their space reflected this preference. During the summer, while the parents enjoyed time with their children before returning to work in September, I focused on managing the household smoothly so they could prioritize family time.
I also have experiences from Ukraine where I did babysitting and tutoring in Math, English & German Languages, + Science tutoring. I think that my recent Canadian experiences mentioned above can prove my working ethic and dedication. I can provide reference letters from teachers, the families I worked with, students' tutoring reviews and proof of school transcripts. I am grateful and appreciative of working opportunities because in this way I can help support my family and gain new working experience.
