Hi! I am the founder of the company called "Descente Project" (www.projetdescente.com) which helps students connecting to the reality of their disabilities; going deeper in them. Even though I work specifically on basic school subjects with my students, I care about the core of their disabilities, not only about the symptoms we perceive at first sight like the so called "bad grade". I know that when a child doesn't succeed in school, there's always a deeper reality underneath which I help them see. It's what I'm really passionate about in this work, because it's from there for example that I could help one of my student to go from 50-60 in English to 85-90%. My business is designed to help students even at an early age to connect to what objectives they want to achieve, to what really interests them. I do my best from there to connect what they need to learn to those goals. When I work with children, I really have at heart their wellbeing; I pay attention to them and their needs. That's why I integrate when the session is long enough academic games, moments to move and to exhale, to relax on the ground. If you want to know more about how I work, you can visit www.projetdescente.com and do not hesitate to contact me. Though my website is currently in French, I am a fluent english speaker. Good day! Karine. Hi, My name is Karine. I have worked directly on the field in Quebec elementary schools for about 10 years and have been tutoring kids within my own business for 4 years now. I'd describe myself as the coolest auntie on the block. Indeed I having been taking care and spending lots of time with my nephews for the past 16 years. Having moved here in Montreal for over a year now, I miss having contact with kids, taking care of them and spending time with them. On my free time, I'm fond of reading, walking in the parks and playing Ukulélé. I'm a forever language lover so I'm learning German at the moment. I like volunteering whenever possible, I'm currently active with CHL to assist elderly and with La maisonnée to help new comers embrace their new life. I don't have a professional work experience in this field as per say however I'm the proud auntie of 6 boys and let me tell you: not all of them are peaceful haha. I love kids and since I moved in Montreal I haven't had the opportunities to hangout with my nephews much so here I am available some evenings per week to help parents that need me and play with lovely kids. PS: I love board games. I have experience tutoring kids and adults regarding their various needs. I'm a curious soul and would be happy to help in various subjects especially in language learning and history. I also help families transitioning their little ones from English to French school here in Québec. Contact me if I can be of assistance!

My name is Magalie, I am bilingual, I'm deeply passionate about child psychology and I have more than 5 years of experience in tutoring linguistics and literature to children. I hold a background in academic social research, in tutoring children as well as adults the linguistics of French, and in clinical psychological interventions. I have a bachelor of Arts (B.A.) at McGill University with a major in sociology, a minor in psychology and a concentration of courses in ethnic and racial studies in Canada. I also did one year of Graduate studies in sociology, and I'm currently finishing the necessary courses in psychology to enter Graduate school in psychology. My skills are beneficial for individuals who have learning disabilities and may have trouble with their self-esteem and self-perception of their capacities.Trained in a humanistic-existentialist approach, I value self-expression, authenticity, autonomy as well as good relational skills for the child. I am a dynamic person who enjoys on my own time to learn more about Arts and crafts techniques (Drawing, Painting), do recreational acting classes, and, more recently, sing in a choir. I tend to value social activities, books or conversations that nourishes a person's inner world and allow them to find and create meaning in their everyday life at home and at school. Currently, I work as a part-time tutor in a private firm that allow English speakers to learn French and become bilingual. I have availabilities to work as a nanny/tutor on evenings, Wednesday mornings and on the weekends. Looking forward to working with you! I have a background in academic social research, tutoring children and adults in linguistics and literature, and psycho-social interventions. During my time spent in academic social researchI was involved in research projects that seeked to understand more about the social forces at play in preventing or complicating the integrations of minorities in Quebec and Quebec. Therefore I have developped skills in debate/rhetoric, philosophy, etc. I was a daycamp counselor for children who wanted to learn basic langage skills in English during two consecutive summers when I was in Cegep. And I helped a children with special need at the camp during that time. Additionally, for a whole year during my bachelor, I tutored a 8 year old kid in collaboration with Ometz Agency, who helps with integrating immigrants who may not have the financial resources to find a tutor for their kid. A year after, thanks to an organization called AIESED I went to Poland and taught English and French to daycare as well as elementary school kids and high school students. I also stayed in families who who young children and helped with basic everyday tasks. More recently, I worked as a social worker doing socio-psychological interventions in a community center (Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Montreal) helping kids with socio-emotional needs, more often than not with learning disabilities. And finally, last year, every week during winter I went to an elementary school and read a different book to 5 year old kids. This project was called Un livre Ă  la fois and was led by a GeneviĂšve Lafrance, a university professor in literary studies. The project was meant to instaure a curiosity for literature among young kids.
