My name is Magalie, I am bilingual, I'm deeply passionate about child psychology and I have more than 5 years of experience in tutoring linguistics and literature to children. I hold a background in academic social research, in tutoring children as well as adults the linguistics of French, and in clinical psychological interventions. I have a bachelor of Arts (B.A.) at McGill University with a major in sociology, a minor in psychology and a concentration of courses in ethnic and racial studies in Canada. I also did one year of Graduate studies in sociology, and I'm currently finishing the necessary courses in psychology to enter Graduate school in psychology. My skills are beneficial for individuals who have learning disabilities and may have trouble with their self-esteem and self-perception of their capacities.Trained in a humanistic-existentialist approach, I value self-expression, authenticity, autonomy as well as good relational skills for the child. I am a dynamic person who enjoys on my own time to learn more about Arts and crafts techniques (Drawing, Painting), do recreational acting classes, and, more recently, sing in a choir. I tend to value social activities, books or conversations that nourishes a person's inner world and allow them to find and create meaning in their everyday life at home and at school. Currently, I work as a part-time tutor in a private firm that allow English speakers to learn French and become bilingual. I have availabilities to work as a nanny/tutor on evenings, Wednesday mornings and on the weekends. Looking forward to working with you!

I have a background in academic social research, tutoring children and adults in linguistics and literature, and psycho-social interventions. During my time spent in academic social researchI was involved in research projects that seeked to understand more about the social forces at play in preventing or complicating the integrations of minorities in Quebec and Quebec. Therefore I have developped skills in debate/rhetoric, philosophy, etc. I was a daycamp counselor for children who wanted to learn basic langage skills in English during two consecutive summers when I was in Cegep. And I helped a children with special need at the camp during that time. Additionally, for a whole year during my bachelor, I tutored a 8 year old kid in collaboration with Ometz Agency, who helps with integrating immigrants who may not have the financial resources to find a tutor for their kid. A year after, thanks to an organization called AIESED I went to Poland and taught English and French to daycare as well as elementary school kids and high school students. I also stayed in families who who young children and helped with basic everyday tasks. More recently, I worked as a social worker doing socio-psychological interventions in a community center (Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Montreal) helping kids with socio-emotional needs, more often than not with learning disabilities. And finally, last year, every week during winter I went to an elementary school and read a different book to 5 year old kids. This project was called Un livre à la fois and was led by a Geneviève Lafrance, a university professor in literary studies. The project was meant to instaure a curiosity for literature among young kids.
