I retired from teaching three years ago. I was a teacher with Dufferin Peel for 30 years. I taught grades 1-12. I have always enjoyed being around people however, children and the elderly have always had a special place in my heart. I love keeping active as I enjoy hiking and exercising. I have a great sense of humor and resolve problems easily. I enjoy helping others and am a very compassionate individual. I always take pride in my work and work to the best of my abity. Children and the elderly bring me such joy. I worked in the HELP (hospital elder life program) at the Trillium Health care centre last year. I aimed at preventing functional and cognitive decline among hospitalized senior patients. I performed mobility exercises, structured cognitive re-orientation and other therapeutic activities. We were taught how to assist the elderly in getting in and out of a wheelchair. I did exercises with certain patients and assisted others during mealtimes. I am reliable and always work to the best of my ability. I have worked for Seniors for Seniors, a well known company that provides the best of care for seniors. In this role I did a diversity of things such as taking seniors to various appointments, assisting with showering, cooking, shopping, cleaning, and helping to make seniors happy. Some of the clients had dementia, or hearing impairment which I was very capable of dealing with as I communicated with them. I have taken informative sessions on how to deal with these issues. I have also worked privately with seniors in their homes. I have helped them prepare meals, clean their homes, taken them to appointments and grocery shopping. I would be willing to help out on the odd weekend if needed. I like to make seniors feel safe, understood and happy as they continue to journey.

I am Elena. I am 37 years old and Mexican. I have been living in Canada for 6 years. I have experience in caring for the elderly, speak a little Italian, enjoy reading, and am patient, organized, and kind. I also like taking care of children and pets. I took care of two elderly Italians who lived in San Clair. They were a 90-year-old couple. I learned to speak a little Italian, lived inside their house with them, and took care of all their needs. This included providing their meals, organizing recreational activities, engaging in conversation with them, and occasionally cooking together to help improve their motor skills. Additionally, I assisted them with taking their medications, showing them love and care as if they were my own grandparents.

I have many years of experience in the healthcare field. I have worked with dementia and Alzheimer's patients, providing personal care and assistance, mobility and physical support, and mental and physical development. I enjoy working with our aging population not only because there is a certain level of comfort in helping, but also because there is plenty to be learned from them. I value family and the bond between them. I am honored to be able to give them peace of mind knowing there is someone helping their loved one. I do not have a family of my own. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors and keeping up with physical fitness, whether it is at the gym or hiking. I like to volunteer at local food banks and community outreach programs. I have taken an interest in photography, outdoor gardening, and indoor planting. I take pride in my ability to work with teams. When I am not in a team setting, I enjoy working with the client's family. I work hard and am genuine in the care I provide. I believe that honesty, integrity, dependability, and emotional intelligence are qualities that are necessary when working with people. My name is Mariane, a thirty-year-old residing in Mississauga. I am happily married and a proud pet parent to my dog, Nami. I am of Filipino descent and an enthusiast of cooking; my culinary skills can be best described as average. I specialize in preparing Filipino food, basic Indian food, pasta, baked ribs, chicken, and so much more. Among my hobbies are watching movies with my husband and delighting him with my homecooked dinners. I've been an employee of the Cooksville Care Centre for approximately two years, working diligently in a restorative unit where most of our patients are transferred from hospitals with conditions like broken ribs, post-surgery recovery, or those having a history of falls. My role involves assisting them in their daily care such as setting up their toothbrush, helping them wash their face, brush their hair, or shaving their beard. Moreover, I aid in transferring them from bed to chair if they require extensive or limited assistance and employ ceiling and Hoyer lifts if they necessitate complete support, including the use of sit-to-stand and rotator machines. Feeding responsibilities include preparing drinks and ensuring hygiene measures are in place before and after meals. I also render peri care in helping them clean their private parts if they are unable to, and assist in administering them showers. Before I start my duty, I ensure to take comprehensive reports from the preceding nurses and likewise furnish them with comprehensive handover reports at the end of my shift. Nursing is not just a profession for me, it's my passion. Helping the elderly and considering them as an extended part of my family is what drives my devotion and dedication. I worked at a restoration unit where residents stayed while gaining strength with a physiotherapist. I worked with RN's, RPN's, and physiotherapists, responsible for morning and evening care including setting up pre-baths, showers, changing clothes and briefs, toileting, and transferring residents using lifting equipment. I also assisted residents with feeding and walking, providing companionship during free time. I reported residents' behaviors to nurses in case of drastic changes in demeanor and documented their intake and outtake. I documented using POC, following the Kardex and care plan for tasks such as shower schedules, nutrition (snacks or daily meals), and determining if the resident needs assistance from two people or total care.
