My name is Anita. It's nice to meet you. I am interested in providing tutoring services in the English language. I'm a native English language speaker. I have lived in Canada for most of my life, and I have a degree in nursing, and I've practiced nursing for 22-plus years. My degree is from the University of British Columbia. Through my profession and, of course, through my education, I have had to have an excellent command of the English language in terms of writing, speaking, communicating to patients and families. And yes, it's been my livelihood. I have done some tutoring in ESL. I'm not a formal ESL teacher. However, I have tutored some adults in their 30’s & 40’s and also children ages 5-12 at the time . I work carefully, particularly with younger children and adapt lessons age appropriately. This was prior to the pandemic, we worked on visual comprehension, reading, writing, speech and also listening comprehension. I speak another language myself, a European language, Dutch as well as grade school French, so I understand the ins and outs, challenges and difficulties of learning a new language, but also the joys of becoming stronger and more confident with skills-based learning. I look forward to speaking to you.
I hold a degree in Nursing from The University of British Columbia. ( Nursing). I have taught both adults and children in basic ESL incorporating various methodologies, tools and age appropriate levels. Positive, consistent reinforcement with encouragement, utilising a solid command of the English language through speech, repetition, reading both books, stories, magazines, positive news and informative stories as well as digital writing, song, real world communication. I am happy to speak with you further about you about your student’s needs.
