A retired nurse who still has a heart for caring for others, I am seeking a way to continue to practically help others. I have 3 children, who are all young adults living in different parts of Canada now. So, I now have lots of time on my hands with a lot of flexibility in my schedule to accommodate the needs of my clients. I am fully vaccinated (proof can be provided), personable, a good conversationalist, well-read and engaging, while being an active listener who understands the importance of being heard and understood. I enjoy the outdoors, walking along the ocean or hiking in the woods. Very sociable, I seek out ways to engage others, taking into consideration their interests and abilities. In my professional and personal life, I keep my values in focus - high integrity, regard for others, and kindness.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, I had many years of experience in a variety of settings. I worked in acute care (general medicine and neurosciences), extended care, and home care. In all those settings, I was required to bring my education, skills, and experience to a variety of physical and cognitive challenges. I also used my medical experience to assist me in an administrative role as the administrative coordinator for Mental Health Outpatient Services in greater Victoria. With a solid background in healthcare and administration and a love for helping others, I launched my own home healthcare services company. I assessed and developed care plans for our clients, and often delivered the care personally. Due to the growing aging population, dementia care and respite care was a big part of what I delivered. It has its own unique challenges and having experience and advanced skills in dementia care is critical when working with both the client and their family.

I no longer hold a license for practical nursing, but I practiced as an LPN for many years in a variety of healthcare settings, providing me with a wide range of experience.

Home care clients' daughter's review: "Meredith has been a godsend for our family. Meredith went above and beyond our expectations. She cared for our dad as if he was her own. She took extra shifts when we couldn’t find other caregivers She stayed after her assigned shifts and trained some of our other caregivers in using some of the equipment we had rented for our dad like an electric wheelchair. From the beginning, Meredith was incredibly responsive to our needs and able to help us navigate a difficult situation, having two parents diagnosed with dementia, and our father having lost his mobility. Any difficulty we’ve had has been met with immediate attention, professionalism and a real sense of responding with compassion and thoughtfulness. We have been able to collaborate with Meredith in solving some very difficult problems. She has been easy reach and responds in a timely matter. We would highly recommend Meredith as an exceptional caregiver. We are so grateful."- Tannis

Home care client’s daughter’s review: “We are so grateful to have found Meredith! She is fantastic support for our mum and for us! Caring, conscientious, helpful, thorough, calm natured – overall excellent! Her nursing background is a big help in understanding and explaining safety risks, medical procedures (vaccines through hip replacements) in a calm and reassuring way that is wonderful for an anxious parent. We also appreciate her willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ in caring for our mum – and her updates on mum’s health and their activities.”
