Melani B.
I have a lot of things I can do as long as they give me instructions to do so, and I also determine what is needed to do or necessary. I am willing to learn and help as long as they need me. I have had experience taking care of elderly individuals for more than 2 years. I started as a reliever until they offered me a full-time caregiver position, so I must say that being a caregiver for elderly individuals has been one of my best experiences because I love doing it. It is my pleasure to work and help, especially for those in need of care and companionship. My family is in the Philippines, but I have lots of relatives here, including my uncle, auntie, and cousins. My hobbies include dancing, swimming, watching movies, playing sports like volleyball and badminton, and exercising, which is one of my favorite pastimes. Both my previous and current employers have been happy to work with me, treating me like family. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with them. In terms of my educational background, I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Administration with a major in Computer Office Management. In the Philippines, I gained experience in various office roles such as sales statistician, real estate consultant, sales marketing, accounting assistant, and management trainee. Now in Canada, my work experience includes being a nanny for children and a caregiver for an elderly individual who is now 95 years old with diabetes and a wound on her ankle foot. I provide daily care and assistance in her own home, managing her medication, preparing meals, feeding her, changing her diaper, and assisting her with bathroom visits. In addition, I monitor her blood sugar levels, administer insulin as needed, and apply nitro patches for her heart condition. I ensure she is comfortable, relaxed, and pain-free, allowing her to sleep and rest as needed. I have been working with her for more than a year, and I feel lucky to have the opportunity to care for such a kind lady whom I love so much. I hope for her to have a long and healthy life, but ultimately, only God knows what the future holds.
