Phuentsho W.
My name is Phuntsho, and I come from Bhutan, a country known for its deep-rooted values of happiness and peace. My journey as a caregiver has been one of compassion, patience, and profound human connection. Before coming to Canada, I had the privilege of caring for an elderly couple, both of whom were living with dementia. There were days when they mistook me for a stranger, their minds clouded by confusion, believing a thief had entered their home. In those moments, I learned that reassurance comes not just through words, but through the heart. I would show them photographs of our time together at the park, gentle reminders of our shared laughter and companionship. I would sing the old songs they cherished, melodies that could momentarily bring them back to a place of comfort and familiarity. Long before that, I was my maternal grandfather’s caregiver. He was paralyzed, and at just sixteen, I took on the responsibility of tending to his needs. I wheeled him through the bustling marketplace, letting him take in the sights and sounds he so dearly loved. I watched his face light up at street performances, moments that brought him joy despite his physical limitations. He often told me he would always pray for my well-being, moved by my dedication—something he believed was rare among the young. Caring for children, too, has been a beautiful part of my journey. In many ways, I see a reflection of the elderly in them—the same innocence, the same need for patience, love, and gentle understanding. Both children and the elderly have the most genuine hearts, expressing their emotions with purity and honesty. And in their laughter, their trust, and their small, beautiful moments of connection, I have found a purpose that fills my soul.
Additionally I’m a proud mother of two energetic boys, 4 and 5 years old respectively, but sadly they are country. Moreover I’m a kind and humble person who would heart and soul into the work they do. And I’m the who loves to learn about every new styles and cuisines.
