My name is Sharmaine Remis, and I am a 30-year-old woman. I am married and blessed with one wonderful child. I hail from the beautiful islands of the Philippines, where I had been working as a nurse for a significant duration, approximately six years to be exact. Nursing was always something I was passionate about and therefore, I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure in the Filipino healthcare sector. However, time changes and brings about new beginnings. Following this thought, in the beginning of this year, specifically in January, I took the bold step of moving countries and now, my family and I reside in the picturesque landscapes of Canada. It was a challenging move, leaving behind the familiar for the alien. However, the welcoming demeanor of the Canadian people made the transition smoother. Currently, I am pursuing further studies to enhance my skills and knowledge in the healthcare sector. I am enrolled at the Niagara College Welland Campus, one of the most prestigious institutions in Canada, known specifically for its medical programs. Here, I am taking up a course to become a Personal Support Worker- a professional dedicated to bringing a difference in the lives of people needing personal support due to age, disability or sickness. Here, I discovered my further inclination towards a particular part of patient care- taking care of the elderly. There is a certain satisfaction in providing aid to those who once, at the peak of their strength, carried the mantle of our society. Their wisdom, coupled with their warm hearts, makes the job much more than just a regular duty for me. Thus, I would absolutely love to devote my efforts and time to this specific part of my profession in the future.
