I was born and raised in Toronto. I have 7 siblings including myself. I was very lucky and had a great experience growing up. I played hockey, ringette and basketball all through high school and college for basketball. At the age of 17 I moved to Mexico to learn about their beliefs and customs. That trip made me realize how blessed we really are. I couldn’t have kids so I adopted siblings when they were 3&6. In my early 20s I got sick and was in the hospital for a month and some staff were mean and that is how I came up with being a PSW so that none of my patients every felt like I did. I started babysitting at 14 for families in my neighborhood. At 16 I became a nanny for a doctor and took care of his daughter fulltime. Still to this day we are all very close. I love helping others and doesn’t feel like a job for me. We need more nice people in this world

I ran a home daycare for 12. Then did private home care where I did meds, showers, meal, something using lifts if I was working with someone who was paralyzed. Cleaned the house and any other thing this family needed. When he passed away I know I wanted to help families and friends so I became a PSW and was valedictorian. I work in a hospital setting and also worked in long term facilities. I was then approached to teach clinical for the PSWs.
