I worked for an agency for 18 months after graduating from the PSW Program at Algonquin College as well as a live-in caregiver for a private party. At present, I’m working for a young professional as a live-out caregiver Monday through Friday. I have worked for numerous clients with different needs, ages, backgrounds and some of my duties include providing bedside and personal care to clients, assisting with ambulation, bathing, grooming, getting dressed and undressed, planning and preparing meals, changing non-sterile dressings, assisting with oral medications as instructed by medical professionals, performing light housekeeping duties - for example, do laundry, wash dishes and make beds, and observing client’s behavior, cognitive state, and physical condition to report any changes or unsafe conditionsto the healthcare professional in charge of their plan of care (RN, RPN, or manager) or a family member.
