When I first started working at Chartwell my role was a guest attendant, this meant that I was I'm charge of resident care and housekeeping. I would answer call bells, toilet residents, transfer residents, feed residents, and many more. The housekeeping I did was to clean 4 rooms in a 8 hour shift, this meant to deep clean all the listed residents rooms for that day. I would also clean the public areas as well. However, before I left chartwell I switched my roles to become a UCP (unregulated care provider) this meant I was able to give out medications. I trained under a nurse for 1 week and than completed a pharmaceutical test under CareRX pharmacy. I passed the test with an 95% and was able to hand out medications at my 0800 and 1200 med pass. I also was able to take urine samples, check blood pressure, give out insulin, and send over faxs to the doctors. I have both the qualifications and experience as a personal support worker to successfully assist with activities of daily living while improving quality of life, independence and self-steem in a compassionate and professional manner. I am hard working, dedicated, and reliable with strong organization and creative problem solving activities and to continue the development of my skills. I have my CPR and a GPA (gentle Persuasive approaches) course as well, the GPA course was focused on dementia. I have worked with people that have Dementia, stroke, Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder , anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
