I am a 19-year-old South Asian female who is currently a Personal Support Worker (PSW). I was raised in a joint family where my grandparents were diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, diabetes, arthritis, and dementia. I used to care for them, ensuring they ate their meals and assisting them with walking. During that time, I gained an in-depth understanding of how challenging it is for elderly individuals to live with these physical and mental diseases. Additionally, I started volunteering in community centres and home to home caring for people in need. From preparing their meals to planning their day out, I have cared for patients completely dependent on me and their family. I like to spend time with aged people and have empathy for them for what life has shown them.

I have had the chance to gain 2+ years of elderly care in community centre and also home to home. I have assisted people with their daily routines such as bathing, grooming and dressing, meal preparation, walking etc.
