Born and raised in the beautiful country of the Philippines, I am, at present, an international student who eagerly pursued career aspirations overseas. As a female individual who is already 32 years of age, I have chosen to establish my life in Scarborough, a diverse city with profound beauty. My academic pursuits and professional development are geared towards thriving in the field of social services, as my dream is to work as a specialized social services worker with the intention of contributing positively to society. I spent four enriching years in university back home in the Philippines securing my bachelor's degree in Social Work. This degree provided me a broad base of education and gave me insight into the socio-cultural fuelled discipline, preparing me to address and understand the complexities of social issues. The extensive coursework, in-depth discussions, case studies, and practical training were essential in sharpening my people skills and my understanding of social dynamics. I spent a fulfilling five years working as a medical social worker within the healthcare sector in the Philippines. This job not only allowed me to put the theories I learned in school to practical use but also exposed me to real-life scenarios sharpening my problem-solving skills, and fostering empathy and patience towards the vulnerable populations I encountered. At the present moment, while I reside in Canada, I am gainfully engaged in part-time employment as a cleaner. This indeed, is a considerable shift from my previous work realm, but it nonetheless provides me with sustenance whilst I manage my financial responsibilities. Although my current occupation does not directly relate to my previous educational background and professional experience, I am grateful for this opportunity as it allows me to live independently and look after my needs.
