First of all, ever since I was a child, I was trained at school and at home to clean. I am the youngest child of the family so as a Filipino, you are responsible for the cleaning - this is our household rules. I can't play or go out if our house is not clean. I clean the whole house, my brother fetch water and polish the floors. I am also in charge of doing the family's laundry (by hand, since we don't have washing machine during those times). In the afternoon, I have to sweep and clean our neighborhood, gathering all the leaves that fall and pull out weeds. We have to make sure our surroundings are clean to not let the mosquitos thrive and to avoid all sorts of diseases caused by dirty environments. After graduating college, I move to a different city and have been living alone. I do all the chores from cleaning to doing laundry, even painting and some 'construction'. When I arrived here in Canada, I was hired by an agency to clean to client's homes and buildings. I find it fulfilling to see clean kitchen, clean and arranged clothes and a clean living room for the children and the whole family's covenience.
