My journey in the culinary world is not a traditional one. However, from a young age I have been passionate about food and cooking. I grew up helping my nana in the kitchen. She has disabilities that prevented her from cooking her cultural foods, and I was fortunate enough that she could teach me what she knew. Those experiences taught me the beauty of nurturing others with food, and it has been my most joyful hobby.
For over two years during the pandemic, I was able to offer my talents to cook for a single-parent family. This position allowed me to improve my knife skills, develop a strong knowledge of preparing various ingredients, and learn new techniques. I have grown to become a competent home chef, baker, and recipe developer who can accommodate for any dietary restriction. I know I have a lot to learn, but I am passionate and excited about my continued cooking education.
I am driven, a fast learner, and work well as part of a team. I am also physically strong and capable of the hard labour involved with kitchen work. Many of my strengths stem from my job at the Royal Tyrrell Museum, where I work as the coordinator for a wilderness youth science camp. My involvement in the camp spans a decade, and it helped me develop strong communication skills as well as an appreciation for detail-oriented work and team coordination.
I would like to branch out in my personal cheffing to gain experience, which is why my rates are so low. I hope you will take a chance on me and allow me to cook for you and/or your family.
Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the possibility of cooking for you.
I have been cooking since the age of four, but during the pandemic I took a nannying position that turned into a personal cook position. I cooked, cleaned, and did groceries for a single-parent family for over two years.
I am self-trained with hopes to go to culinary school in the future. I am a competent baker and comfortable accommodating for a variety of dietary needs.
