Job Description -Caregiver position , Winnipeg, Manitoba. Location: South end of Winnipeg in a quiet neighborhood close to parks, all amenities. Accessible by bus. Start date: Flexible Description: Caregiver position available for a caring and patient person. Duties include provision of supportive care to an elderly female family member and taking care of the home environment, accompanying to occasional appointments. Position would allow for flexible hours. Qualifications and skills: • Experience in providing care to elderly people, or people with disabilities. • Light house-keeping duties which include sweeping or mopping floors when needed, laundry, dusting, meal preparation, general clean-up. • Ability to maintain a medication schedule (give daily medication from medication packs, administer eye drops daily). • Ability to go for walks, attend appointments if needed, grocery shopping or leisure/recreation outings. • Patience and flexibility to adjust to the needs of an elderly person. • Must be reliable and trustworthy and able to work with others. • No heavy lifting is required for this position (no heavy outdoor work such as shoveling or lawn care is required). Requirements: Experience working with the elderly preferred. Criminal records check, vulnerable persons check and references required. It would be helpful to have some training in CPR, food handling, possession of a certificate in a health related field such as health care aid or nursing assistant. These are assets but not required. Current enrollment in a health related field such as health care aid or nursing assistant program would be an asset. Would also consider a student attending university or college in nursing or social work etc. Valid Manitoba Driver’s License would be considered an asset but not necessary.
