I am a 66-year-old woman with MS confined to a wheelchair. I need help with all activities of daily living, including personal care, although I am fine cognitively. I am looking for somebody that has strong experience on a portable Hoyer lift as my disease has taken away my ability to walkand I can no longer transfer myself. Muscle spasticity has taken away a lot of my function. I have only limited use of my arm and hand, so I will need help with feeding and brushing teeth as well as all areas of activities daily living. You should be fluent in English with good communication and organization skills. You should have cooking and housekeeping skills and be physically fit enough to help me with some basic stretching and strengthening exercises. I weigh about 150 pounds. I have a family which includes grandchildren and have a busy social life. I enjoy art and music and healthy cooking and eating. I live on the seawall close to the recreation centre and the library. I look forward to welcoming you as a member of my family soon. I am currently looking for somebody to work for the weekends for 2 24 hour shifts. The shift begins at 9 AM Saturday morning and will end at 9 AM Monday morning. Dependability is crucial and you must make a commitment to this position. This work.will require putting me on the lift for toileting.. And meal preparation and medication. This shift includes putting me in bed at night and getting up at 3 AM for medication and repositioning. If we are good fit, then there will be casual work leading up to the end of the year and then my caregiver goes away for a month and I will need full-time work so there is opportunity there for more work. The person I hire must be legally allowed to work in Canada and have a social insurance number. it is not a cash job.
