Part-Time Nurse for Injections - Downtown

NOTE: The most important part of this job is that you have a steady hand and can give a long, slow, and careful insulin injection to the patient. This is a part-time position during early lunchtime, 10:45 am to 12:45 pm. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. Pay is $20/hr. Free parking available. Downtown location, near Lakeshore and Fort York. Please make sure you are able to commute before applying. Looking for either a student or qualified RPN or RN. Need a nurse to take care of a highly educated and pleasant young woman who had a stroke and is partial blind and needs help living at home. Looking for a part-time nurse who has a very steady hand and can do insulin injections and IVs. The patient has a skin and muscle condition which requires the insulin to be delivered very slowly - the needle will be in the body for 40 minutes and your hand must be steady the entire time. Also need to assist the patient in transferring between chair and wheelchair (no heavy lifting). Need blood sugar, blood pressure and heart rate checked, and medication given to the patient. Sometimes will need light meal preparation as well. When you first come, you will be trained. Time MUST be punctual every day because patient has other appointments to follow. Candidate must speak and read English. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to be flexible; must have excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Candidate must have had the flu shot this year and continue to take it annually. Must take the COVID 19 vaccine as soon as you are eligible. At all times please wear gloves and mask. Must remove shoes in the home. Can wear booties or slippers are available in the home. Please call us.
