Looking for a gentle, warm-hearted companion to be with, and assist my MIL in her LTC residence which is downtown TO on roncesvalles. Will report to family. She is non verbal with progressed dementia and currently on 2 weeks bed rest. We need someone to ensure she is being looked after and to see her recovery through. She is in a very vulnerable state and I am looking for someone who can give her full attention during her awake time. Sips of water every 10-15 minutes to keep up her swallowing Little spoons of honey and treats Playing with balloons Looking at pictures of family Massaging hands Encouragement to rub in lotion herself on hands Massaging the feet and legs Encouragement to feed herself, though that is really deimishing. Gentle whispering and telling stories I need someone there to ensure her brief/ bed pads are kept clean and dry. Someone to follow the families wishes on how she should be comforted during her washing, changing and dressing. Experience with a hoyer lift and transfers is highly preferred as that is the stage she is basically just entering. Candidates who have physio experience or know a great travelling physio are highly preferred... Also we are interested in someone who has the strenghth and will to help her get up and move around her room and explore that recovery option... may or may not be possible at this point but looking for someone who can commit to trying.
