Looking for a care giver for my 72 year old father. He is a brilliant self-made man who ran his own engineering company up until 3 years ago. However, earlier this year, his wife was arrested and charged (for the third time) with assault with a deadly weapon. Since the incident, he’s no longer able to walk, but he can stand and twist to get himself to and from his bed and wheelchair. She is legally not allowed near the premises so no need for concern. He’s a kind and calm man (with mild onset of dementia) who deserves to be safe and comfortable in his final years. His dying wish is to die at home with the dogs, and as his loving daughter and POA, I want to enable that for him. While I’ve taken a 3-month leave-of-absence from work and have temporarily moved in to provide immediate care, my life is downtown Toronto and I’ll need to return sooner rather than later to avoid loosing my job and subsequently, my home. He has two great and friendly dogs (never bitten a soul! Just love patts) and an entertaining talking parrot. Ideally the caregiver would feed the dogs and let them out (they come when called and we have an electric fence so they can roam the vast property). We will have PSWs and Nurses to clean, bath, and change him. Additional asks include: - giving him his scheduled medication - laundry - light cleaning - letting PSWs and Nurses in and out of home - updating me about his days and any issues - dishes (though he barely eats) - light errands (eg, prescription pick up, grab OJ, etc.) - possibly some additional things I’m forgetting at this very moment He is a smoker (more so occasionally given his deteriorating health), but we have a Dyson air purifier and an exhaust fan running 24/7, so the home doesn’t smell and air stays clean. While I’ve posted my desired schedule / expectations, I can be somewhat flexible so please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to hearing from you.
