My 71 year old wife will have major surgery for stomach cancer. This surgery will be as soon as possible, time is of the essence to prevent spreading of cancer cells. We would like to have immediate live-in help. We live in Dundas, Ontario - part of Hamilton - in a 2 story house, she will be using the main floor bedroom, we have a 2 piece bathroom on the same main floor, but the shower and bathtub are on the upper floor. We were preparing to move to Vancouver so many boxes are all around after packing, but this move will not be happening any time soon due to this almost-immediate major operation. My 31 year old son is back from Vancouver to help, but he needs to return to his Vancouver job after my wife has had the operation and after she has become stabilized. It is important that the live-in caregiver is experienced medically and not having to learn the very basics of caring for sick people. Neither my son nor I have any knowledge of medicine, so we are in no position to guide any caregiver regarding medicare care. Other matters will include light housekeeping, cooking, feeding and laundry.
