I am in search of a part-time companion for my beloved grandparents to provide them company during the time my family is at work. Despite their age, my grandparents have managed to maintain their independence. However, their daily routine could benefit from a little assistance and someone to keep them company. Knowledge of Filipino/Tagalog is preferred as my grandparents are more comfortable communicating in this language. Your role would involve preparing breakfast and a light lunch, and making sure they take their medicine on time. Their day could be brightened by enjoyable conversation, encouragement to participate in light physical activities such as walks, or maybe accompanying them on drives. They are still quite active and always have intriguing stories to share. Additional responsibilities would also include changing the bed sheets weekly and aiding in carrying the laundry upstairs and downstairs. While they handle their own folding and my grandfather even enjoys cooking, your presence could be helpful and reassuring for their safety while they handle these tasks. The position is titled "Part-time companion for my Lovely grandparents". Filipino/Tagalog speaking is preferred. The placement would entail working part-time for about 20 to 30 hours a week. Working days would be from Monday to Friday, during the morning hours and extending into midday on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Primary responsibilities would include Meal Planning/Preparation, Escort to Appointments, Bathing Assistance, Plan Visits, Outings, & Trips to Visit Neighbours, Friends, Family, Dressing Grooming assistance, Housekeeping, Laundry, Errands. We are ideally looking for individuals who are comfortable or experienced in dealing with arthritis and hearing impairment. A driver's license is a requirement for this position as the family would provide a car for use on the job to assist in their outings and appointments. This position does not require living in and the individual can start immediately.
