My name is Joshua. I’m interested in childcare employment opportunities because I have always been around atmospheres where children are meant to be just children and to have fun, but to also learn and grow as individuals. My background growing up in a Presbyterian church involves playing games of all sorts (in the gym, out in a field, etc. ) taking group lesson times (for bible studies, but also in the dynamic of group sessions where we can talk and connect our lessons and biblical stories to our own lives everyday), and I’ve been granted ample opportunities to connect, grow, and work with the same youth that I was as a young child, and also to have fun together. My work experience involves a summer of babysitting for 2 elementary school boys from the morning until their parents got off work. In addition, my volunteer experience includes acting as a high school student grade 8 camping activity leader for our town’s annual grade 8 camping trip for all school kids around the district where we would lead main activities, smaller group activities, and building of virtues and character through games and reflection. I’ve also been working and participating for over 10 years with my church’s drama club where we would rehearse weekly to perform shows every Christmas, Easter service and summer drama camp helping peer actors’ develop stage and enunciation abilities. These experiences have all been so valuable and rewarding that I wish to always invest in the youth by contributing and working to help kids grow and achieve the best that they can for themselves, and to also cultivate an atmosphere where youth can feel comfortable to imagine, expand, and explore their own unique facets and grow safely and securely to their best satisfaction, while also providing supervision that teaches them to be conscious of the world around them and how they might fit into that world. As for my hobbies, I’m an avid basketball player (but a lover of all sports), chess enthusiast, long- boarding/biking/recreational riding, and lover of games of all sorts (video games, board games, socially interactive games. I don’t intend to use video games as a pastime with youth, unless parameters are allowed by the child’s caregiver. There’s a difference to me between taking a shift to properly and professionally care-give and taking advantage of a shift to play on-screen for hours on end with youth). I always make sure to approach youth and kids with an open-mind and accepting attitude with whatever comes up. I’m not uncomfortable with vulnerable, sensitive, or highly emotional situations and feel comfortable defusing arguments, or to address behaviour changes as needed and also to provide a little bit more attention, as well as retention of what kids have to say, and consideration for how I can best show the child/youth the needs and support they need. Through this all, I attempt to always remain as a listening ear for youth to express and identify for themselves and others what might be barriers in our everyday lives, and how to bridge those barriers over. I hope to inspire creativity, imagination, fun, empathy, and thoughtfulness into all the kids I come across and to discover new ways to include and get to know people from all types of backgrounds and how we can effectively build spaces where everybody can feel included, accepted, and a sense of belonging. Having some fun on the side is what I think makes experiences memorable and an aspect that makes kids want to do something new all over again with new people to meet and learn from. I would consider myself fortunate to be able to share my sentiments, outlooks and learning experiences with the youth I work with, and to learn from them as well. 1 year of local babysitting; 2 elementary school boys during the summer from 8-4 3 years of high school student volunteer experience with the Parry Sound district’s annual grade 8 camping trip as a part of our school’s club, Character Development and Leadership (CDL) 10+ years of volunteer experience with children’s church drama, singing and acting. Rose through various positions of assistance to help our valued director to assist in choreography, supervision of the group during practice time and for pick up/drop off attendance, among other responsibilities to help the production run smoothly. Current grade 12 student enrolled at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. Returning grade 12 student for the 2020-2021 school year

Factors That Impact the Babysitter's Rate in York

When hiring a babysitter or Nanny in York, it's essential to understand the various factors that can influence the salary you'll be paying. Unlike a full-time nanny, a babysitter often works on a more flexible, part-time basis, but several key elements can still affect their hourly rate. Here's a look at the main factors that impact how much you might pay a babysitter. Location Where you live significantly affects how much you'll pay for babysitting services. In high-cost cities like Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal, babysitters often charge more to align with the higher cost of living. Conversely, in smaller towns or rural areas, the rates are generally lower. Always consider the local market when determining what’s fair to pay a babysitter in your area. Experience and Qualifications A babysitter’s experience and qualifications are crucial factors in determining their rate. Babysitters with several years of experience, certifications in CPR or first aid, or specialized training in early childhood education will typically command higher rates. Parents are often willing to pay more for a sitter who can handle emergencies, manage challenging behaviors, or care for infants and young children with confidence. Number of Children The number of children a babysitter is responsible for directly impacts the rate. Babysitting multiple children requires more attention and energy, and many babysitters charge extra per child. For example, if you're hiring a sitter for three kids instead of one, you should expect to pay more to compensate for the added responsibility. Duration and Time of Day The duration of the babysitting job and the time of day also play a role in determining the rate. Evening or late-night hours, when babysitters might need to stay until midnight or later, often come with higher rates due to the inconvenience. Similarly, if you're asking a sitter to work for an extended period, such as a full day or over a weekend, you may be expected to pay more. Additional Duties Babysitters are primarily responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in their care, but if you're asking them to take on additional tasks, like preparing meals, helping with homework, or tidying up, you should expect to pay a higher rate. These added responsibilities go beyond basic childcare and can increase the overall cost. Short Notice or Special Occasions If you need a babysitter on short notice or for special occasions like holidays or events, be prepared to pay a premium. Babysitters often charge extra for last-minute requests or for working on days when most people would rather have off, such as New Year's Eve or Christmas.

Nanny Payroll & Tax Services in York,Ontario?

As a Canadian employer, you are required to deduct and remit taxes on behalf of your nanny, much like businesses do for their employees. This includes contributions to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance (EI), and income tax withholdings. The wages you pay your nanny or babysitter can be claimed as a child care expense on your tax return, reducing your taxable income. We partner with nanny tax & payroll services that simplify the process of nanny tax preparation for a small fee.
