I am a single mother of 3 energetic, spirited and active children with a variety of interests. Like all children, they have unique personalities, which frequently requires different approaches. In 2014, for a short time, I provided personal caregiver services for a paraplegic woman and her family, which consisted of 5 children. Along with providing care for her, I also ensured that general housekeeping and meal preparation was performed and that 2-3 of her 5 children were simultaneously provided with quality care. Prior to my separation in 2014, I operated a successful bilingual day home with Out-Of-School care services for up to 5 children. I have settled into a wonderful part-time position with a very reputable Out-Of-School care centre, which I absolutely love. At the centre, I have had a diverse exposure to the unique needs of children with some behavioural or learning challenges, and those with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Although not the norm, these cumulative experiences have given me a foundation of what to expect when working with children in varying age groups and backgrounds. I enjoy working as part of a team, and perform well individually. I am looking to supplement my income and contribute towards the cost of tuition for my upcoming Fall Semester at MacEwan University.
In order to meet licencing requirements in Alberta, I successfully completed the provincially legislated Level One Childcare Attendant Certificate. It is my intention to continue on this path by pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care at MacEwan University, commencing in the Fall.
