I’m an 18-year-old Filipina Canadian, born in Toronto and raised in Dubai before returning to Toronto for high school. Currently, I'm on a gap year before starting university at TMU in September.
As an only child, I've grown up surrounded by older cousins and now help take care of the younger ones in the family, from babies to 10-year-olds. I love spending time with them, whether it's exploring outside or staying in for movie nights.
My interests span from music, where I'm an independent artist, to visual arts like drawing and painting. I also enjoy sports like basketball, softball, and chess and can coach if needed. Academically, I excel in English and can assist with other subjects too.
Overall, I bring a diverse background, nurturing personality, artistic talents, athletic abilities, and academic strengths that I hope makes me a great fit!
I have been involved in childcare since a young age, starting with babysitting when I was just 11 years old (the maximum years of experience I can put on here is 6 years). Initially, I cared for children around the ages of 6-7 years old. Over time, my responsibilities expanded, and my most recent babysitting engagements have involved children aged 4-5 years old.
In my role, I am entrusted with tasks such as providing snacks and dinner prepared by the parents, assisting with changing into pajamas, supervising tooth brushing routines, and tucking the children into bed, often accompanied by bedtime stories. Additionally, I ensure the children are engaged in creative activities by providing colouring materials and encouraging artistic expression through drawing on plain paper.
During our time together, I actively engage with the children, fostering meaningful interactions and listening to their conversations. I also facilitate their screen time by watching kids shows with them and listening to their favourite songs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
Communication with parents is paramount, and I make it a priority to provide updates as desired, while also proactively seeking information and asking questions to ensure a smooth transition when taking on new childcare responsibilities.
Throughout my childcare experience, I have managed varying numbers of children at once, adapting to the needs and dynamics of each group to provide attentive and nurturing care.
