Sara L.
I am a 56-year-old grandma with four grandchildren by blood and more than 10 grandchildren from my adopted sons and daughters. I longed to have a dozen children when I was young, but God gave me four. Then in came my adopted sons and daughters (mine and my husband's distant relatives, and others from my pitiful friends) whom we raised and loved, sending them to school just like our real children. Now, most of them, like my real daughters, have become successful in the fields they love. However, what I enjoy most is seeing and bonding with my grandchildren. A few years back, I had the privilege of nannying the kids (a 5-year-old and an infant) of Dorene Sobel, a Karate Kid Head Instructor at Dawn Barnes Karate Kids School in Los Angeles, California. Those were some of the most memorable days I spent with these awesome kids, singing lullabies to help them nap, feeding them, bathing them, walking with them, and playing with them. In addition to my experiences were attending to bedridden seniors, hospice patients, and those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's.
A nanny for a 5-year-old boy and an infant for over 2 years, I am responsible for playing, feeding, bathing them, washing and mending their clothes, and assisting with their homework.
