Hello, my name is Carmela. Being a nanny is something that seems to come natural to me. I am a driven individual that always wants to help others and will do so by providing my time and care to whoever is in need. I am outgoing, I love running, I love the outdoors, food, building relationships and fun times. But, safety is very important to me, I always ensure individuals around me are protected and free of harm. I take full responsibility for my actions, therefore I would never put anyone in harm's way. My goal is to meet the needs of the children I care for by ensuring I have the best understanding of what kind of child he/she is and what specific care that is required from me. I will protect and help nourish the children I care for just as my parents did to me. I believe a healthy environment and relationships are essential for a child to grow into a successful individual. Having the background of two years of nursing has established a foundation within me on how to care, treat, and communicate with others. I have also helped my mom run a cleaning business for over 5 years now which has gave me insight on how and what a clean and functioning home should look like. If you chose me to be the nanny for your children I will ensure I become the person they need me to be in every challenging, happy, or difficult moment.

I have never specifically been given the title as a childcare worker but I have been exposed to the younger generation since I was 15 years old. I use to work in the nursery at a church on my own. I cared for 3-4 babies, under the age of 1, for around 1. 5 hours every Sunday. Although this was a new experience for me it built the foundation to care. During this time I also babysat three little boys all under the age of 3 for up to 9 hours a day. This was challenging but it was a great experience that helped me learn the real meaning of time managing, one-on-one interactions, and communication. Now, being an aunt to four beautiful children under the age of 5 I have continued to be exposed to this generation. Being an aunt has been so rewarding. The love and care I give them are exponential and spending time with them always brightens my day. Having the opportunity to watch them grow and reach new milestones is so beautiful. Being a positive role model in their life has encouraged me to pursue this job.

The first year of the BScN we were taught to care for the older generation 50+. It was an eye-opening experience. I learned that the first years of life up to childhood are the years that build the foundation for people to grow. Having good health will impact what the future holds. This is why I am inspired to work with the younger generations, I want to help them form a healthy and stable foundation that will lead them to success. The second semester was based on communication. Due to this program, my communication skills have changed for the better. Having an eye-opening experience has allowed me to become self-aware of how people are individualized. Everyone deserves unique care, no one is the same. Even though people may experience similar life events everyone's emotional and psychological responses can differ. Taking the time to understand why people respond or act in a certain way will truly help solve conflict.
