Hello, I am a twenty- seven year old female, living at home, seeking employment with children, as I continue my part time studies at Sheridan College in the Early Childhood Education program. I enjoy working with children of all ages and have been placed in three different day care centres, in the Mississauga area, through the Co-op programs at school. To date, I have logged over 900 volunteer hours and I am still volunteering at the YMCA, close to my home. (can be used as a reference). I enjoy swimming, being outdoors, bike riding and working with special needs children. Over the past year, I have had the great opportunity of working one-on-one with a special needs girl. My duties with her including dealing with after school routines, studies and teaching her and most recently, over the summer, working with her at a horse back riding summer camp. I have a St. John's First Aid CPR course and also a CPR-C course, knowledge of how to use an Epi pen and a current police background check. References are gladly available.
Over the past years of volunteering with children, I have acquired the full knowledge of an Educational Assistant, yet without the final degree. Some examples: daily reading, one-on-one child interaction, play groups, arts and crafts. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: Over the last two years, I have had the joy and privilege of working one on one with an autistic girl, simply by being her aid. My duties have included: assisting with all after school routine.From: personal hygiene, educational resources, snack preparation, and simply keeping her company until one of her parents got home from work. Over this past summer I was an aid at a horseback riding camp with the girl, my duties there included: aiding the child with daily grooming of the horse in order for her to ride, feeding the horse treats, learning about the general anatomy of a horse. Watched the riding lesson that this girl took part in. I am also currently volunteering my time at a daycare, my duties when I am there include: washing lunch and snack dishes, clean and sanitizing s and chairs after lunch/snack time, sweep floor when needed and after lunch/snack time, daily sanitation of children's toys and shelving units where the toys are kept, help out staff members as much as possible, during nap time I help children to go to sleep by rubbing their backs. * Also I have the knowledge of how to use an EPIPen.
