Hi there. My name is Shilah. I come from a pretty big family, I am the eldest girl of seven. I grew up babysitting and helping care for all my younger siblings and cousins. I am a dog mom of two wonderful pups, we spend a lot of time exploring trails, hiking, and hanging out at the dog park. My biggest hobby currently is practicing yoga. It fills me up with happiness and makes my body feel great. I am returning to school in the fall at Capilano University and am looking for part-time or on-call work as a nanny or babysitter. I hope to become a teacher in the future. Able to start babysitting immediately. Please feel free to contact me about availability as my current schooling is extremely flexible and a lightweight course load this semester. I am a person who enjoys good company, loves laughing, travelling and nature. I am a patient, caring, hard-working, optimistic and adaptable individual who is eager to learn and try new things. If I sound like a good fit for you and your family please contact me. Look forward to hearing from you

My childcare experience has mostly been through the YMCA at a local summer camp. We provide 24-hour supervision and lead a variety of outdoor activities. Some examples include archery, rock climbing, sailing, and canoeing. I am there to manage group dynamics and provide leadership, support, advice, problem solving and enthusiasm while being a positive role model for youth. The children in my care ranged from 5 to 17 years old. I also led the leadership development program in my later years. I also had a great opportunity this year working as a preschool teacher. The students in my care ranged from 3 months to 4 years old. I was hesitant to work with such a young age group in a professional setting but I absolutely fell in love. I started off as a substitute teacher and was able to work in many classrooms with a wide variety of wonderful students. I was blessed to work alongside and gain knowledge from other life-long educators as well. I also got to help in the kitchen preparing food and maintaining a clean space by following standards and practices of food safety in childcare. After a couple months, I had my own classroom and was able to apply everything I learned and experienced. I assisted in opening up a brand new school and had a fresh classroom to start with. My main responsibility was caring for the children's physical, emotional and mental well-being in a safe environment. I turned all activities and interactions into intended teaching moments. I would also implement the curriculum through lesson planning and individualization of students. I also enjoyed collabrating with families to ensure students were getting the most out of their early developmental experiences.

Currently working towards my bachelor degree. Would love to teach internationally or in an elementary school one day.
