I am from Ireland and have recently moved to Vancouver with my partner. I am interested in outdoor activities and fitness. I am motivated and out going individual that has experience organising a range of fun activities for children/young people.

I am qualified and registered psychiatric nurse since 2019 from Ireland. I have over three years of experience working with vulnerable populations within mental health services in the Health Service Executive which is a non-profit organization. I hope to use my expertise such as empathy, active listening and compassion to provide a safe and caring environment for these children. I have had work experience and employment in addictions services, acute, residential and community mental health services. I have recently worked in a child and adolescent inpatient unit for youth aged 17 years and under. I have the ability to build trusting and professional therapeutic relationships with youth to support them reaching their personal goals and transition to adulthood. During my role as a mental health nurse, I have provided person-centered and recovery orientated care to all young people and their families. I have been able to do this through assessing, planning and evaluating young peoples’ care. I have experience of working with LGBTQ+ community and a range of mental health difficulties including self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, ADHD, ASD and mood disorders. I can work collaboratively with other multidisciplinary team members, community services, educational staff and child and family agencies. I have the experience of formulating individualized care plans, completing audits and updating risk assessments. I have engaged in continues professional development through training and courses including trauma informed care, Therapeutic management of violence and aggression (TMVA) and Skills Training in Suicide Prevention. I also have First Aid and Basic life Support (CPR) training. During my nursing training I also volunteered in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital Playroom Volunteer Scheme in Dublin. I have also completed a Pre-Nursing Studies course for one year after high school where I completed working experience in a day center for senior citizens in a community center, nursery school and a kindergarten. I also have done the occasional baby-sitting for families including a child with a diagnosis of epilepsy.
