Hi there! Welcome to our informal meet and greet! I’m a happily married Mom of two young girls (one pre-teen and another a few years younger), and a dog/cat Mom too! We live in Langley, love our neighbourhood and have a strong village around us. We’re often referred to as “the milk and cookie house”! I love to bake and have a great deal of experience with kiddos from a very young age. Growing up in rural Mt. Lehman (Abbotsford), I was the local babysitter starting at 12 years old. I remember being responsible for a 2 week old and her toddler, pre-school and elementary siblings while the parents were tending to their farm. I love to stay busy and enjoy meal-prepping, cooking and tidying. Laundry is both a blessing and a curse LOL! I’m great with pets (ideally no snakes or reptiles *gah!) and have a great sense of humour! No doubt we’ll share some great laughs! I’d love to be able to pass on these traits and be an example to my oldest daughter who has shown an active interest in babysitting. She’s recently completed her babysitting course as well.
A bit more in depth about my previous “life before Momming” - I worked in finance for years (specifically private education as a family care coordinator alongside the Autism Funding Unit, this after working as a mortgage broker and investment specialist) and then changed careers to health care where I became a Pharmacy Tech. With the added pressures of kids’ activities and my husband’s time consuming job in BC Infastructure, it became time for me to step away from full-time work to better balance our work/family life.
In my evenings and weekends I love to spend time crafting and event-planning for my kids’ schools. When the weather is good our family is out usually at the ball field, hosting backyard news and hangouts in our pool and hot-tub and when we can, camping and quadding.
I’d love to be able to chat more! I hope you’d find my personally a good match. I’d like to think I could be a good fit for your family with my experience.
I have worked with children in a variety of positions throughout my adult life be it volunteer work while maintaining my career in finance until my children were born. My Finance career was both as a mortgage specialist and then for a private education company where I was a family care coordinator and worked in home arranging in home educational services and providing basic educational assessments. Part time I worked as a dance teacher in the evenings for children ages 4-16. I’ve volunteered and helped with administration for children’s camps and also at both my children’s schools as PAC President. I’ve been encouraged to complete my Education Assistant certificate as I have experience with children with a wide spectrum of behavioural needs both in my work and personal life. Most recently I worked in the pharmacy field as a Pharmacy Technician but have taken a step back from working in health care.
