Let me introduce myself, my name is Menchie. I was born in Batangas, Philippines. Due to the fact that my parents moved around a lot when I was younger I was able to develop many skills that allowed me to adapt to any environment and that included many neighbourhoods. That's the main reason why I can embrace change with ease. Ever since I was a child, I learnt to be an independent person. My parents who I love so much didn't have the means to support me when it came to my education, but by tutoring and babysitting I managed to go to University and study Business Management. Two years after I graduated, I got married and became a mother of three, my eldest Lyca is 12, my second Joey is 10 and my youngest is Yuji who is 8. All three of my children are now in their second year of school here in Canada and are doing so well. Life back home was tough, and I knew I had to make some very difficult decisions if I wanted to give them a better life. In 2004 I made that decision and it was the hardest thing I?ve ever done in my life, but my goal kept me going. I went to Hong Kong and worked as a Nanny/housekeeper for almost two years. My employer was a Chinese family with a baby who was 8 months old. I looked after the baby until she was over 2 yr/o. Every day I took her to her scheduled daily activities, to the park and to play dates. I read her books and monitored her educational program at home and by the age of 2 she was able to read, I was so proud of her. After I finished my contract, I left and went to Canada in 2006. I took care of two boys since birth until they were 4 years old. I made sure that there daily routines were fun and educational whether it was going to programs such as "early years" or simply walks to the park or even one of their favourite the Science Center. Proper discipline was always enforced as I believe that consistency in disciplining the kids is very important. We had established a very good relationship that until now I am still so attached to them. I love them like my own. I still get to see them from time to time and both boys are growing up so fast and I am so proud of them because they have kept the values I help instil in them. They are so smart and very polite. Having a balanced life is what I believe in, having fun is so important because there is so much joy I get when a child smiles and laughs but at the same time it's such a pleasure to see them grow into a life that is full of curiosity and wonder. I am now working downtown as an Accounting Coordinator which has been an incredible experience as my skill set continues to grow but at the end of the day I don't have the same love and drive that I get when I make a difference in a child's life.
