I am a third-year student at McMaster University studying accelerated nursing starting in September 2021, and I have extensive experience working with children of all ages and abilities. I have worked at multiple summer camps where I worked one-on-one with a child with disabilities, and supervised groups of up to 8 children doing various activities like arts and crafts, sailing, and swimming. I also have been swimming all my life and I have about 4 years of experience working in aquatics from lifeguarding to teaching advanced first aid courses to being an aquatic supervisor. I love education and school - I have worked in a Heart and Stroke research lab and volunteer with patients that have acquired brain injuries. I also love sports, travelling, participating in musicals, and outdoor activities like camping and hiking.

I have worked extensively with children in many different settings, the first being a summer camp setting. I worked for one summer as a babysitter where I looked after children from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm between the ages of 2 and 5. I helped the children with by preparing nutritious meals, leading fun activities and helped with day-to day activities like using the washroom and getting dressed. I have also worked with children in a teaching setting when I worked for the Town of Newmarket as a lifeguard and swim instructor, where I taught classes of up to 10 children between the ages of 6 months to 15 years of age. I had to monitor safety, come up with fun and engaging lesson plans and write report cards at the end of each session. I worked at the Town of Newmarket for a total of 3 years, and I would say that I have advanced first aid and safety knowledge, as well as extensive experience of teaching and supervision. Lastly, I have run my own backyard swimming lesson business where I worked one-on-one with children between the ages of 3 months to 15 years of age. This was very similar to the position at the Town of Newmarket, but in this case I had to be liable for everything that happened in my lessons. I ran my own backyard lessons for 3 years with many returning customers.
