Hello everyone! I am very excited to introduce myself to you. My name is Alex and I'll be celebrating my 20th birthday in July. I'm very passionate about various hobbies and interests. I find great joy in immersing myself in different worlds through reading and I am also an avid movie buff (80s movies are the best!) I love to use my education to further my interests; I study English and History, so I find it fascinating to learn about different historic events (through movies, museums, or books). In my spare time, I love to get busy in the kitchen trying to recreate my grandma's famous chocolate chip cookies, and when I'm not doing that, I am usually found cheering on my favorite hockey team from the couch! Family, to me, holds the most importance and is undoubtedly my world. It is just me and my two parents, which has allowed me to be their best friends, and them mine! I am extremely fortunate and thankful for the close bond I share with my family. We love to try new foods, watch game shows, or go to hockey games together! As a person, I am known to be kind-hearted, caring, and humorous. I have a knack for making people comfortable around me. I am an outgoing individual who enjoys socializing and meeting new people. I am also blessed with a creative streak that enables me to perceive things in a unique way. A significant portion of the credit for the person I have become, goes to my elementary school librarian. She is the one who instilled in me the ability to dream beyond boundaries, the love for living through books, and the belief that I am capable of making anything I want come true. These life-lessons imparted by her, I carry with me in every stride of life, be it in academics, which I am deeply committed to, or in other life experiences. Being a student at the University of Guelph has been an enriching experience and it has taught me the value of perseverance, the gratifying results of relentless hard work, and the significance of planning my future. With time, my aspirations have started taking a clear shape. One of my biggest dreams is to tread on the path paved by my elementary school librarian and become one myself or, equally as rewarding, a teacher. I have a special affinity for reading to children; I love to see how the stories unfold in their imagination, as it reminds me of being a kid who discovered her love for stories. I don't have experience in babysitting/nannying but I do have experience teaching kids ages 3-14 as a Taekwondo assistant instructor. I was an instructor for 5 years in my hometown of Brampton, Ontario. In this role I would manage kids in groups anywhere from 5-20 and teach them the skills they needed to pass their belt test. I approached this job with care, creative ways to keep my students interested, enthusiasm, kindness, and walked out with heightened skills in leadership, child management, and a newfound passion in deciding I would one day want to be a teacher or librarian. My fondest memories in childhood are with my grandmother, who would come over with a "mister maker's craft bag, " and we would do arts and crafts all day long. As well as this, we took many trips to the public library! Both of these activities shaped me as an individual, and I would love provide the same experiences to the kids I would babysit now! I would be happy to help with cooking, housework, homework, or bedtime! As an empathetic, caring, and creative person, I believe I can take my past with teaching children and use it to be the best babysitter possible!

I graduated High School in 2022, and I am now studying English and History at the University of Guelph. I will be entering my third year this coming fall.
