Alexis B.
My name is Alexis, and I am a 21-year-old student based in Edmonton, currently studying at the University of Calgary. I am passionate about understanding human behaviour, and I particularly enjoy establishing nurturing relationships with children, which is reflected in my current educational pursuits. I am studying online, which provides me with flexible availability from Monday to Sunday, primarily during the day. My extensive work experience in the hospitality industry has enhanced my ability to create positive and engaging environments. Through my years as a national competitor in various ringette associations across Alberta, I have developed a strong sense of responsibility and adaptability. As an athlete, I have travelled throughout Canada to participate in various provincial and national championships and have received multiple medals over the years for my performance. At present, I am a member of the Edmonton Black Gold Rush team, competing in the National Ringette League. My commitment to my sport limits my availability after 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Furthermore, participation in the NRL requires that once a month, I travel out of Alberta for a weekend competition hub. I am seeking part-time roles such as a nanny, babysitter, or tutor. I am committed to leveraging my experience and my character to facilitate the growth and wellbeing of children between the ages of 6 to 16. I am open to supporting up to three children and am able to perform various duties, including cooking, running errands, doing laundry, assisting with homework, and especially caring for pets. With an extensive background in animal care, I am more than willing to share more details upon request. I have reliable transportation for any necessary work travel. I am certified in CPR and First Aid, have a diploma, and am a certified B2 bilingual French speaker. I am looking for live-out arrangements, and I am available to start from the 1st of October. However, depending on the situation, I may be able to start at an earlier date.
As a lead summer camp instructor, I had the opportunity to take full responsibility for creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children of all ages. I developed and implemented activities that fostered both individual growth and teamwork, ensuring each child felt included and supported. My focus was on making each day exciting while providing the guidance and encouragement they needed to explore new challenges with confidence. As a coach and lesson instructor for both ringette and horseback riding, my job was to teach young athletes how to push their limits and develop skills in a structured, positive atmosphere. I tailored my coaching style to each student’s unique needs, helping them improve while ensuring they had fun. Both on the ice and in the arena, I was committed to building not just their athletic abilities, but also their self-esteem and love for the sport. I have worked in the hospitality for several years as well, honing a multitude of skills including but not limited to multitasking, responsibility, time management adaptability and reliability. These are skills that have helped me numerous ways both in my personal life, as well as any professional opportunities.
My studies are currently entirely online, and I am actively in a study hiatus as I recently moved from Calgary and am taking time to adjust.
