Hi. My name is Jackie and I am looking for a part time housekeeping job. I have an attestation through Vanier College in Early Childhood Education, a social sciences degree through Dawson College and certificates through Global Tesol Canada in Teaching English as a Second Language. I am certified in Infant/Child First Aid and CPR. I am someone who loves working with people. I have a great sense of humour and am very positive. I bring a lot of energy to whatever job I am working at and am a great team player. I am independent and like to be given different responsibilities. At my first job, I was given my own classroom, as well as numerous administrative duties. I am a married Mom of a little boy and am very close to my family. My parents instilled in me a sense of respect for others and a strong work ethic. They are important to me and still offer me advice. I am very open-minded and have always run my classrooms that way. I have been lucky to have had very diverse groups of children in my care. I have encouraged the families to share their cultures with us and wanted the children in my class to appreciate the differences between them. When working with kids, I believe in being positive, upbeat and funny. But I also am firm and teach respect for rules, for each other and for their environment. My hobbies include reading - I taught myself how to read before kindergarten (according to my Mom) - and now, I read all I can, for entertainment, education and awareness. I love music, both listening to it and going to shows. I enjoy movies, walking and exploring different neighbourhoods in my city. I have been lucky enough to travel a bit, to Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia and the U. S. It's made me anxious to see as much of the world as I can. While most of my work has been with children, I'd be happy to work with elderly or have a job in housekeeping. I am very organized and have always had responsibilities in keeping my classrooms clean - mopping, dusting, cleaning windows, garbage removal, etc.

I have been a day care teacher for 15+ years. I have babysat for 20+ families, including one family for 6 years. I help with homework, prepared meals, did light housework, picked them up from school, brought them to activities, hosted their friends and did occasional overnight sitting. I have planned birthday parties, tutored (English as a second language and general homework help), coached basketball (grade 3 level) and volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I am fully bilingual in English and French. I have worked with kids all my life, from babysitting and tutoring and helping the kindergarten children off their buses when I was in high school, to teaching for 14 years in day cares.
